August Author's Update
Added 2024-08-01 19:00:52 +0000 UTCHowdy Folks,
Question for all of you. Have you noticed that anytime there's a new newsletter posted, I change something in it? Similar to my novels, I like to add a lot of hidden little tidbits within that few people will notice.
During Monster Tiers and the many systems, I included a joke about Will Wight's Cradle.
Later on, I threw in a few comments about the Wheel of Time.
Heck, near the very beginning, when Walker is creating his first landmass, he and Virgil joked about Discworld.
For those who don't know or haven't heard of the term before, it's called intertextuality.
As an author and an English teacher, I like to throw in words people normally don't see. We call them upper-tier words in education. That way, I'm slowly increasing the vocabulary, or lexicon, of my readers. Will it sometimes force them to pull out a dictionary (or their phone, I know). Sure! But my job isn't to cater to people who don't want to learn. It's to create an interesting story. If I throw in a few words that seem confusing, look it up! I recently had that occur with one of my beta readers. Locus, is the word I intended. Not focus.
Editing is moving right along. In the next few days, expect all of the edited book 1 chapters to hit at once. I will consider dropping the document on here when the manuscript is complete, but it will only be for my Tier2+ patrons.
As soon as I finish editing Book 1, I'm going to be hammering book three until completion. We've got about 4-5 chapters until it's all over, and I take a break to edit book two.
I hope you all have been enjoying the chapters. Next newsletter will be out soon, and just before that, we'll have our monthly poll.
As always, thanks for sticking with me.
p.s. did anyone notice my recent Path of Ascension line? Also, I'm going to update the Patron tiers here soon. It's been on the backburner for me for a while. No charge increases.
