Author's Update: May Edition

Well folks, we have lost of ton of Patrons this month.

I'm not necessarily complaining, as I use Patreon less for the money, and more for the feedback and for those who really want to know what's going to happen next. As I've stated in the past, I won't really have a big focus on Patreon until Grey comes a rolling in.

This last month I dropped from 28 Patron's to 23, while this month, I dropped from 23 to 18.

Is this going to change my writing? Nah. I said at the start that I'm writing with two different focuses.

1. I'm writing a story I would want to read.

2. Patreon is cyclical. That means people sub and unsub after they read what they want to read. I've already seen multiple people tell me that they'll resub in a few months. Doesn't hurt my feelings, as I do the same damn thing. I'm currently doing that with the Primal Hunter and Defiance of the Fall. Plus, this is all a setup for future worlds. The better I write the rules now, the better the stories are later.

Still, I didn't expect to lose Lobster. I won't lie, that one hurt me a little, but I get it. Life...the bastard she is.

Anyways. Writing is going pretty good. I'm getting better at conceptualizing strands and how they work, which really held me up a few weeks ago. I'm also having a slightly easier time managing all the shit that's happened in the story so far. I do think I'll have a lot of work cut out for me when editing everything, and I do expect it to take quite a bit of time.

Still no offers from any publishers, although I've only really submitted my work to Podium thus far. The reason I'm aiming for Podium is I think they do an excellent job with Audiobooks, and that's where I feel my story would best lend itself. Doesn't hurt to have a tertiary level of readership (listenership?), but at the same time, I'd like as many people to get some joy out of the story as possible.

On Royal Road, we're quickly approaching 2k followers. That's a pretty big milestone as far as the website goes. Sure, 4k+ are considered the big dogs, but at 2k, most people consider you to be a well-founded author. Do I really care what other people think?.....no, not really. But at the same time, the greater your impact, the more readers you gain. So it's a tough nut to crack.

I hope everyone is doing well. I seem to be almost fully recovered from my health ordeal, and don't plan on missing any chapters from now till about a month from now. Thank you, as always, for throwing me your patronage, and lets see where this ride can take us.

p.s. next few chapters are still about strands, then it's system time, then its conservatory. This is taking a bit longer than I expected, but I'm really enjoying the exploration.
