Episode 687: Attack & Dethrone God, Book 2:1

Jeremy: So first of all, you need to understand that this episode was recorded nearly two months ago, and it was on the books to publish this week for much, much longer than that. Which is to say that the intro quip—a quote from a song about the chaotic nature of the U.S., recorded 30 years ago by King Crimson, a band named for the devil—was recorded with no possible way of knowing that this episode would arrive a few days after the Pope's funeral. It's one of those weird coincidences! No disrespect intended.

Moving along: this episode comprises the second half of the conversation initiated in episode 672. In that episode, we kinda didn't get around to talking about video games. Here! In a video games podcast. So this time, we rectify that failing by talking about video games for more than two hours. And on top of that, we rolled Nadia Oxford into the katamari of conversation between the returning participants (myself, Chris Sims, Shivam Bhatt, and Benito Cereno) in order to, as a commenter on the previous episode suggested, make this podcast too powerful. Which raises the question: Can God record a podcast so spicy even He can't listen to it? Ponder that one for the next couple of hours as we contemplate the less-than-flattering relationship that video games share with religion. (And by religion I specifically mean traditional Christianity, plus l'il bits of Judaism.)

Craig

I'm from Las Vegas (a whole city dedicated to attacking and dethroning god), and can confirm there are in fact double decker busses in America. Although they're not as whimsical looking as the London ones.
