Hard Elf Duo
Added 2019-09-10 15:28:05 +0000 UTCWanted to make a big-and-small pic for a good while now. Figured I could turn it into a new piece for my early "hard elf" worldbuilding idea. Imagined a classic mentor-and-student setup for those two.
Drithis to the left, is an ancient temple guard, with centuries if not millenia of training and worship of the chief elven goddess Allasthena. Veneration of the goddess is based not only on spiritual devotion, but primarily on perfecting one's body in imitation of the divine. Devoted to Allasthena pursue physical perfection and ideal proportions, and go to great lengths and effort to sculpt their physique, often for years on end without pause. While every faithful elf excercises regularly, and many devout laymen attain physical peak, bodybuilding is a hard requirement for the inner circles of clergy. The guards are living statues, tall and beautiful as a reflection of Allasthena's ideal.
Kyrika to the right, is an acolyte in the capital temple of Allasthena. She received her initiation rites fifty years ago, and despite it being a short period for an elf, she began to see routine and boredom seep into her life a bit too quickly. She decided to enter the temple's security force, as despite the harsh physical requirements, service promises travel and adventure, as temple guards often serve as emissaries sent to foreign realms and even as frontline combatants. Being still reasonable young, barely two hundred years old, Kyrika is impressionable, and what motivated her decision was a rumor that the most worthy of the inner circles of the guard are sometimes allowed into Allasthena's sanctuary chambers - where the living goddess resides and accepts all manners of adoration.
Kyrika has just completed her three-month physical trials and was assigned Drithis as her mentor and trainer that will guide and teach her for at least the first century of service.

Can we expect to see more progress pictures of Kyrika down the line as she develops from her service and training?

2019-09-10 21:10:41 +0000 UTCUnsymmetrical abs look so much more natural and functional, like they've been really used and tested. Not to say that perfectly symmetrical don't exist, and they are a beautiful sight, but I share your sentiment a lot. Given time, Kyrika might be able to one day match her mentor's size and looks. I'd like to come up with a few different characters and races before I send them off on adventures, though. Even if it's only a few tidbits of lore, it'll help with telling their stories in some better context.

She cuts a downright heroic looking silhouette with those lats and obliques and those pecs look like they could deflect bullets. Plus, personally, I've always liked the look of unsymmetrical abs; they look stronger than a neat row for some weird reason. Kyrika's pretty easy on the eyes too though. That's a nice set of guns she's starting off with. Her career will be watched with great itnerest.
