Background Replacements
Added 2022-04-22 21:01:00 +0000 UTCMany folks have expressed their distaste for the placeholder backgrounds with a crappy oil paint filter over it.
Well the good news about these crappy placeholders, they were in fact, placeholders. One of the benefits of this hiatus is that we've gotten to replace a good majority of them. (While also working on some key locations for the future.) So now you can rest assured that when we return from the hiatus, everything behind our characters will look just as good as everything in front of them.
I wanna thank Likri again for their hard work despite the difficult position in their own personal life and being able to continue working with us despite that. We wouldn't be able to have any of these nice pieces without them. <3
We're continue work across the board on PsyCon as a whole and hope that the product we return to you with is better than it ever was. Til then, I'll return later with more updates on our progress.

Had totally forgotten about these new backgrounds until I was perusing the Patreon posts today. These are so dang crisp, so much more lively and tangible than most VN creators generally like to do. I'm sincerely excited to see these all added into the VN when you guys start up again. Until then, have a great summer y'all!

2022-04-23 10:17:09 +0000 UTCOh no that's understandable, obviously I'm not expecting folks to go "OMG these backgrounds completely warp my playing experience for the better" or anything. It's something our BG artist was able to work on in this time. Our goal is honestly to never have placeholders again so that we can have a consistent style throughout.

2022-04-23 05:38:54 +0000 UTCIm probably in the minority, but i actually kind of like back grounds, that are uhm back grounds. As long as they are good enough to give the impression of what they are actually supposed to be, and there is nothing in the image that contradicts the text (like saying there is two single beds in a room when the background obviously show two full + beds etc.) Im good to go with it. My focus is always 1. first on the text / story, and then 2. on the sprites / CGs of the characters in the scene(s). I actually get alot more excited about a line or two that suggests the character currently speaking is uhm a bit excited, than I do over a well drawn parking lot, if that makes sense.

2022-04-23 01:25:47 +0000 UTCHonestly, backgrounds in general are quite possible the part of a VN that I care about the least, assuming I notice them at all, so I didn't even realize there was a problem with them. That being said, these look nice, thanks for the effort.
