Hi everyone.
Sadly, I have to report to you all that my computer had to go for a repair.
For the last year, I've been dealing with a bluescreening issue, which i mostly ignored because I'm an idiot who was scared of reinstalling windows. But after getting my new RTX 4070 (thank you everyone!), I wanted to do a fresh, clean install of windows as i thougth that was the source of bluescreening: corrupted windows.
Sadly what happened is that the install bluescreened during installation, making me think the SSD was bad. So I tried to install windows on my second, backup SSD. There, the windows wouldnt install on the drive (I got as far as selecting the drive on which to install the windows, and when i selected it, the install wouldnt respond.)
I tried it again with a third, old SSD I had for testing purposes. This SSD already had a clean windows install, and since W10 is portable, I was assured it would be good. It worked fine... for about 8 hours of stress testing (multiple long youtube videos, watching multiple twitch streams, playing a game and having a lot of applications open), I left it running overnight to see what will happen.
I woke up to a PC that was stuck in a restarting loop. The PC would boot up, load windows, get into desktop, where it would sit for around 2-3 minutes before bluescreening and restarting again. This little time window didnt even get me a chance to look at evenviewer logs, so I decided to give it to a professional repair shop.
My opinion is that the RAM has gone bad, but I couldn't check it.
I was told that the PC might be back on wednesday, but that it might take longer. I dont feel that great about this - I thought I was good at PC repair, so to be 'defeated' by a computer, and even moreso, my own computer... It stings.
I'll report back when its back, but for now I only have access to my phone and a very slow laptop I borrowed from my mother.
I'm sorry.
