I know a lot of people are acting disappointed by it, but I think that, as someone who plays ttrpgs with a variety of people, condi's character acting the way he did this episode really checked out. Like, the choices were dumb as hell, but most of the characters have been making dumb as hell decisions since the beginning! The silly vibes are a delight. I had a lot of fun listening to this episode, and I'm excited to see what happens next!

The original source material is great, besides it's other weird bits that seem to be scattered all throughout it's gameplay and story, but the twist Charlie's taken is genuinely great in my eyes. What needs to be remembered, going into any TTRPG is that the book is just the base, you can change anything, play any way you'd like, make any story you want out of what it gives you. This overall is a different story, with different themes and ideas to base World of Darkness. And where this campaign is going, I can see some darker themes and potential radiating from it. It's definitely different from classic vtm, but it's a welcome take. Keep in mind, we're only four episodes in. Anything can happen, anything you're missing can come into play. We don't know how this story is gonna play out. We're only in the beginning, afterall.

But a literal unironic crusader with actual holy powers? That's kind of in the face of the entire vibe of the game and setting. World of Darkness has some wacky lore but it's hidden behind so much theme and presentation nobody minds. Maybe it's just me but it kinda disappoints how the complexities of the setting that make it interesting have been totally sanded down like that. And also how ungrounded it is

He has done a lot of music for JRWI in general, two tracks for Riptide (another on the way), and a full track for Blood in the Bayou! Unfortunately the soundtrack for the Suckening hasn't been released and likely won't release until it's over, but we get the pleasure of listening to them as they come in the series, which is awesome.

2023-12-17 13:37:11 +0000 UTCjust started the episode but I'd like to comment that the club sound effects at the beginning are quite loud and overwhelming!! edit: i think overall the sfx + music throughout the episode at some points are quite loud and mix into the players talking (like during the fire part: there's people screaming and fire and the music and it's a lot), i am sometimes struggling to make out and focus on what is being said not sure if it's just me, but it'd be nice if they could be turned down a little bit (in the video release maybe) as it's a little hard and overstimulating to listen to :)

This is actually my first ever just roll with it comment, you guys have managed to dragged me out of lurking and into the light sooo here are a few things i was thinkin: The music is as always; amazing. I really love the characters themes they all fit so well and Shilo's theme especially is very fitting, i smile every time i hear it. Also, Edward is a bitch and i hate him i wish Emizel had a chance to kill him lol Speaking of Emizel,he fucking beefed it ☠ I'm actually so sad about it as well I had managed to get attached to him in like 3 episodes (you've ruined me condi condifiction why have you done this) he was definitely my favorite because i really like characters with that feral gremlin "i dont give a fuck" energy. i was especially very excited when Emizel said smth about him being a prince in earshot of Shilo because then we could have some sibling interactions (while they were aware that they were siblings) between him and Shilo but now he's deaddd. i do think that condi had a plan but things went to shit real quick. Maybe he wanted Emizel to lose a limb for cool character design reasons (i do remember him saying smth along the lines of "thats exactly what i wanted" when Charlie said his arm got cut off idk if that was sarcastic or not tho) or maybe Condi just hates Emizel ☠️ either way i hope they find a way to bring him back because him dying like this when we barely even got to explore him as a character feels like a bit of a waste especially in a campaign thats supposed to be shorter like this one Whats gonna happen to Soda? If Emizel died and he had made Soda his ghoul? servant? whatever it's called then does Soda die as well? If not what happens to him; is he freed or something else? And honestly either way we're not gonna see much of him anymore without Emizel because Emizel was the reason he was relevant in the first place, without him the other two aren't gonna interact with him. So if Emizel doesn't come back somehow Condi would have to play a character that either knows or is Soda (bro if Soda's gone too im gonna riot) All in all, great episode as usual! Of course he wanted Emizel to get in with some important vampires, but imagine going to hell having laid a hit on Daybringer Solomon, an important figure to the heavens, a direct and fierce defiance against God. One without any clear intentions except pure and utter chaos. If hell is the way I'm expecting it to be, Emizel just made himself an important person to them, an important asset. Shit this is so fucking cool. God I hope I'm right.

And that's a good thing in my case! I think I can see, in a very vague way, where this is going. I definitely feel like this was planned. Like this had to happen. I think the major point that made me feel like that was when, Condi, instead of making the decision to run away, which would've suited Emizel fine, chose to walk away smugly. It's not necessarily an odd choice to make as Emizel, but neither would have been running away, which, as a player, if he was interested in conserving him, he likely would've. And normally I would dismiss this point, because on it's own it's not worth much, but then we get into Emizel as a character, and the things he's surrounded by. First off, his name and design. If you look up the name Emizel, you get a character from a game called Disgaea 4. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with this game, but the baseline I know is he is an important figure in the Netherworld, and his full name is Death Emizel. If you look at Emizel' (Suckening), and Emizel's (Disgaea 4) designs, you'll immediately spot the similarities between their looks. While their clothing is different, physically they look near identical, both rocking their red eyes and blonde, spiky hair. Keep this in mind. I'd like to turn your attention to the gang Emizel is apart of, the Demons. The Demons. Demons. Foreshadowing? Probably! Enough with the goofs, this seriously is important. I get that choosing the gang name could've been a seperate thing, but considering the name for the rival gang was the Fangs, and the first member we meet from them was a vampire, I think more went into naming these in the story. I seriously think there's some sort of foreshadowing going on, what exactly it is, is not really known at the moment. And there's one major thing that happens this episode that really makes me feel that either Emizel isn't done, and that's our dude, Daybringer Solomon! We have just established that heaven takes an active part in this story, this dude rained down holy light upon Elysium and killed Emizel. So my question is, why wouldn't hell be important either? This character, Emizel, who in every way has a connection to hell, whether it be his name, relations, or just general presence, where does he go? My boy is going to hell, just like Daybringer Solomon told him he would. And what happens from there? I have no fucking clue! Absolutely zero! But I really don't think this is the end for him. I feel like Condi definitely would've been messed up about it, it's hard to lose a character so important and tied into the plot as Emizel. Would've sucked to see him go. I've got faith though. Holy fuck I'll feel so bad if I'm wrong 😭 BUT EMIZEL'S MY BOY IVE GOTTA BE STRONG 💪 HE'S FINEEEEE (mommy im scared help lmaooo)

2023-12-16 21:05:36 +0000 UTCSpoilers. Don't read until you've literally COMPLETELY FINISHED THE EP: I don't know how I feel about Condi's choice here. I'm hoping it was a plan but I cant tell. It's too soon to judge, though, so I won't be hasty. The tentacles didn't help, so maybe he planned to get a serious injury and then Arthur's tentacles kinda screwed him over, idk. I'm honestly gonna be pretty sad if this is all there is, I was really hoping for Emizel and Shilo's relationship to be more explored, given that I can't think of a vtm game with a brother plot like that, but I guess we'll just have to roll with it lmao. I'm just a bit sad cuz I really liked Emizel, I thought Condi did a great job of faithfully playing an asshole and not pulling punches to make him too sympathetic or secretly not an asshole, he was so honest about it lol, so I was hoping for more of him. Either way it was a great episode! Thanks for all the hard work, the sound design was incredible. Charlie is great at dming these shorter campaigns and keeping things tense, and I love all the role-playing so far. Time to wait 2 weeks :)
