EP.302 Season 2 Finale: Instead of Obedience, Rebellion...

The moment came when she had to face the reality she wanted to avoid, but the fear was unavoidable.

“Master... I’ll just close my eyes and rest for a bit.”

“Alright.”

Hearing her use the word “Master,” the taxi driver glanced at Jun-ha in the rearview mirror, suspicious of their relationship. It was clear from that single word that the woman beside him was, unmistakably, a female livestock.

Screech-

“Whoa?”

Lost in thought, the driver nearly had an accident when a car suddenly cut in. Fortunately, he braked in time and steadied his breathing.

“Hey, can’t you drive properly?”

Jun-ha, already stressed, snapped at the driver.

“Sorry. We’re almost there, but the road’s really jammed. That car just cut in out of nowhere...”

Looking out the window, Jun-ha saw hundreds of people filling the six-lane intersection ahead. Women holding signs were shouting angry slogans, all facing the government communal facility building.

“What the...”

“Oh, sir, you didn’t know? These days, there are tons of protests against the communal property system. All the communal facility branches nationwide are surrounded by protestors and can’t function. There’s violence, murder... it’s gotten so bad there aren’t any men walking around here anymore. You really didn’t know?”

He’d heard on the news that the main office had been occupied, but never imagined the protests were this widespread and violent.

“See those tattoos on the women’s arms?”

The driver pointed to women with identical tattoos of a dove flapping its wings inside a circle-a symbol of freedom, demanding an end to the communal property system and women’s rights.

“Anyone with that tattoo is in the same group, so be careful, okay?”

With a sly smile, the driver rolled up her sleeve to reveal her own dove tattoo.

Chilled, Jun-ha grabbed Heo Seong-ah’s wrist.

“Turn the car around.”

“Uh... It’s impossible, we’re blocked in.”

“Then we’ll get out here.”

“Alright, go ahead.”

Suddenly recalling his friend Seong-jun’s near-death from an attack, Jun-ha, now fearful, hurriedly handed over a large bill and got out, keeping his head down as he slipped past the protestors.

Finding no way out, he tried to hide inside a building-but the taxi driver suddenly blared the horn.

Hooooonk-

“That bitch...”

Some protestors turned toward the sound and spotted Jun-ha. Not knowing who he was, they pointed at him simply for being a man. The driver lowered her window and shouted again, “Catch him!”

A sudden hush fell over the crowd as everyone stared at the startled Jun-ha. Sensing danger, he grabbed Heo Seong-ah’s wrist and ran.

“Huh?”

“Catch him!”

“Don’t let him get away!”

Women at the front threw their signs and sprinted after them. Alone, Jun-ha could have outrun them, but Heo Seong-ah, out of her mind, was slowing him down.

“Hurry up, damn it! Do you want to get punished?”

“I’m sorry, Master... huuuk...”

She was sweating and panting, clearly not doing it on purpose-just paralyzed by fear.

“Shit...”

If the protestors caught them, they might die. Should he abandon Heo Seong-ah and run? No. As important as his own life was, he couldn’t leave her behind. No matter what, he would stay with her.

“There they are!”

“Everyone, over here!”

“Grab them!”

Protestors blocked their escape, so Jun-ha ducked into a nearby store, trying to lock the door, but the crowd rammed into it before he could. He spotted a wooden plank just out of reach that could block the door if wedged in.

“Seong-ah! Heo Seong-ah!!”

He called desperately to the dazed woman sitting on the floor.

“Answer me, damn it!”

“Yes, Master...”

“See that plank? Bring it here, quick!”

“Yes...”

Her face pale, Heo Seong-ah grabbed the rough plank, its unfinished surface scraping her skin.

“Hurry up, Heo Seong-ah!”

Thud, thud-

Hundreds of protestors now pressed against the glass door, the pressure growing too strong for Jun-ha to hold alone. The door would either open or shatter.

“Heo Seong-ah! Answer me!”

“Yes, Master...”

“Hurry up!”

For a moment, she considered rebelling, but realized there was no way out of this situation.

“Hurry!”

She silently brought the plank to her master. Jun-ha, not realizing she was right behind him, snapped at her for not responding.

“Hey, you bitch! Want to be made a limb-amputated onahole?!”

She froze.

She’d forgotten the reason for this outing: today, she was to lose her limbs and become a limb-amputated onahole.

“Ah... uuu...”

She hated this life so much she wanted to die. She was sick of being her master’s toy, and even more so of losing her free will forever.

She’d tried to accept reality, but in the end, she hated it.

“Hey, Heo Seong-ah! Can’t you hear me? I’m at my limit, slut!”

“Hhuuuk...”

She’d been avoiding reality-abandoned by her parents, with no hope, no reason to care what happened to her body. But...

That didn’t mean she had to swear absolute obedience to this psychopath.

Why hadn’t she realized how wrong this was? Just because she had nowhere to go didn’t mean she had to stay with someone who abused her.

“Hey, Heo Seong-ah!”

Was this life truly inescapable? Maybe, someday, she’d get a chance to run-like right now.

“Seong-ah?”

Her mind snapping back, Heo Seong-ah gripped the plank and raised it over her head.

Sensing danger, Jun-ha turned, but too late.

Thwack-

With all her strength, she smashed the plank down on Jun-ha’s head, splitting it in two and sending splinters flying. Blood streamed down his face.

“Seong-ah... Heo Seong-ah!!”

She struck him again, this time hitting his jaw and knocking him over.

“I’m sorry...”

Her voice was raw with guilt. Instead of obeying, she chose rebellion.

Crash-

“Get in there!”

“Grab that bastard first!”

“Call an ambulance!”

Protestors burst in, dragged the twitching Jun-ha away.

Left alone, Heo Seong-ah collapsed in shock.

“I... I...”

Staring at her splintered, bloody hands, she trembled. For the first and last time, she’d struck her master. She’d won her freedom through courage, but couldn’t shake a lingering unease.

“Master... no, Jun-ha...”

Surrounded by protestors, she thought of her master, whom she would never see again, and her eyes filled with tears.

Sadness, joy, pain, anger, relief...

Unable to express her feelings, she simply smiled.

The End -
