ABOUT THE STORY

Two years have passed since the One Year War reached its end. The space fortress vessel Aria stands as Jovian space's sole manned spacecraft, carrying out a critical mission to obliterate the factory ships constructed throughout the Jupiter Sphere, vessels designed to sever the Federation's vital helium supply lines. Aboard the Aria, Johnny Ridden and the enigmatic female pilot Tita, suspected of possessing Newtype abilities, find themselves under assault by the ghostly specter of Char himself. (Chapter 1 and 2 only)

ABOUT THIS LIMITED SERIES

This work first appeared as a serialized feature in Cyber Comics under GAINAX's creative direction. The series earned recognition as the "Jupiter Trilogy," with each installment handled by different talented authors. The complete collection eventually found its home within Gundam Generation 3. Notably, only the third episode received the unique treatment of a two-part publication format during its original run, though it was compiled for Gundam Generation. Only the third episode lacks the "Original Story: GAINAX" credit.

Jupiter Mirage chapters 1 and 2 form what appears to be a cohesive narrative arc, explicitly anchored two years beyond the One Year War's end. However, Jupiter Mirage-3 deliberately omits any timeline indicators, suggesting minimal narrative connection to its predecessors. This third installment also ventures into bold new territory by introducing actual alien beings inhabiting Jupiter, establishing that the phantom phenomena plaguing Jovian space stem from these extraterrestrial entities' psychic interference.

While the broader Gundam universe would later explore alien encounters, from Evidence 01's mysterious presence in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED to the Jupiter-dwelling aliens featured in the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 theatrical release, Jupiter Mirage holds the distinction of pioneering alien storytelling within the Universal Century timeline itself.
