Change to Prices For Future Patrons in April; Current Patrons Will Keep Current Price
Added 2022-03-26 16:42:50 +0000 UTCI'm going to make some tier/price changes in April! I've mentioned before, how when it comes to tier prices, I only make about 75% of the actual amount due to taxes and Patreon taking a cut. The cheapest tier I have is currently $2 (USD or Patreon currency equivalent) and the majority of new patrons who signed up in March joined that tier and then immediately canceled. Every month, I always have new patrons that sign up and then immediately cancel after they gain access to download files. I have no personal issues with people who do that, they're simply taking advantage of Patreon's system. Whenever it happens at a huge frequency, it makes me think that I should raise prices because it is not stable income when someone makes one purchase and never returns again for another purchase the following month (although sometimes they might return again several months later or even a year later to repeat that process for new files... but still that's not stable income for me).
I appreciate loyal patrons and I don't like raising prices for them so I've figured out a way to increase prices for new patrons while not raising prices for current patrons.
Prices for current patrons will not change unless they switch tiers after March. I will lock certain tiers in April to the amount of current patrons they currently have (aka people who aren't already in that tier won't be able to join), which will keep those prices fixed. I will add "Retro" to the tier name of those tiers.
I will create a few new tiers in April that are basically a copy of current tiers but at a slightly higher price. Those will be the tiers that future patrons can sign up to (or any patron that changes tiers in April or later).
