Annual Payments Are Now Allowed; $1 Kobold Tier Deleted

$1 Kobold tier

I deleted the $1 Kobold tier yesterday. I sent out refunds to those that paid (for that tier in January) but never upgraded to a higher tier (either they cancelled their subscription in January or they didn't change their subscription at all). All those who were in that tier (at the time I deleted the tier) are now without a tier. Patreon still counts them as active patrons despite the patrons having no tiers, so I guess we'll see in February what happens to those who never officially cancelled their subscription. Also one section of Patreon gave me a number for how many people were in that tier at the time I deleted it and another part of Patreon gave me a list of people who were in that tier... and that number of patrons from the second section did not add up to match the number from the first section. idk if it was an error of Patreon's part or if there is some way users can be anonymous, but I had to do refunds manually so if a patron is somehow anon then I can't refund you (anon patrons) because I don't know your existence. Yesterday I learned there is no setting to auto-fund patrons when you delete a tier. You simply delete a tier and Patreon does not prompt you to do anything after you delete a tier. So that was a weird experience.

Also, in regards to refunds, Patreon says "Once a refund is issued it can take up to 5 – 7 business days to process." I did the refunds on a Sunday, which isn't considered a business day. So those that were refunded will probably receive their $1 next week (if not earlier).

Annual Payments Are Now Allowed

Today I've set up the option that allows patrons to do annual payments. The default is still monthly payments but you are allowed to switch to annual payments. For annual payments, you only pay once and then you have access to that tier for a year (12 months). You still have access for that 12 months period even if you cancel your subscription at any point during the 12 months. Also, if you sign up for annual payments, you will be eligible to have your name appear under my loyal patrons credits in my games (if you want to have your name appear) without having to satisfy any other criteria, although your name will get deleted from the credits if you cancel your subscription at any point during that period.

Originally it seemed like I was going to be able to offer different discounts to annual tiers, but nope I'm not allowed to do that. All tiers get the same percentage discount when signing up to annual payment. Patreon also only allows the discount to be a percentage, so I've set it to a 8% discount which is roughly 1/12, so basically one month out of 12 months is free if you sign up to annual payments. Note: the 8% discount isn't solely taken out of Patreon's profits, so that means I personally receive less from you if you pay annually than if you pay a monthly subscription every month for 12 months, although Patreon makes me pay fees for various things (without actually telling me the exact percentage fee for every specific patron transaction) so idk if some of the transaction fees will be less for me if a subscription payment is done annually because that's one payment as opposed to twelve payments with varying fees each month. But all that isn't for you to worry about. Just know that you receive a 8% discount if you pay annually.

If you want to switch to annual, I think going to https://www.patreon.com/join/desirelines/checkout?edit=1 will lead you to it.
