Reminder - Billing Changes Coming November

Hi All! I am doing a monthly reminder leading up to this:

Patreon / Apple are forcing some billing changes that affect both creators and our patrons, and I want to make sure everyone is aware of what is coming well in advance.

These changes go into effect in November 2024

There are two main changes that they are requiring: 

1. All creators will be switched to subscription billing rather than 1st of the month billing. Aka if you join on the 30th you will now be charged on the 30th and get access to posts and content etc. on the 30th of each month. If you join on the 3rd, you get access them on the 3rd and so on. For those of you who are currently signed up, you will be considered to have signed up on the 1st of the month. 

2. Patrons using the IOS app for patreon subscriptions will now be subject to the Apple billing fees, roughly 30% of the amount. Some creators may choose to eat this cost, with as small as we are, we can't afford to lose 30% in revenue, so we will be using Patreon's option to increase the tiers by 30% on IOS ONLY. Please note Apple’s fee will not impact existing members. It will only affect new memberships purchased in the iOS app from November onward. For new members, consider using a web browser instead of the app to avoid the added fees.

Please note, we have no control over these billing changes, the only thing we could do differently would be to cut our profits by 30% to pay the Apple fee ourselves - which we can't feasibly do and still have enough money to make our content each month.

Our hope is that this does not affect our operations all that much, but we want to get in front of this so that no one is confused (some of it is a bit complicated and a lot of the tools Patreon is rolling out to make this a smooth transition are not finished yet).
