Yo Critical Crew!
Time for your end of the week update of what we've been up to. We were very happy with the latest release "The Edyn Expedition", but their ain't no rest for the wicked, so we're already getting things wrapped up for October!
- Dillon wrapped up next month's player race - the Arachniddi (pictured above). These normally evil spiderfolk live in the forests of Beldow, which surrounds the Gristwood. Check out this excerpt from their lore and their racial feature Web Slinger (and prepare for some spiderman-style excapades!)
Arachniddi are thought to originally have been native to the plane of Perjus, an outsider plane of deception, death, and misery. Some believe the arachniddi came to the Material Plane to conquer it, others to explore it, and still others that they simply wished to escape the horrid plane they once called home. In truth… all are correct, with the arachniddi that ventured out of Perjus thousands of years prior coming for a multitude of their own purposes, amongst the arachniddi, there is rarely a unified front.
- Web Slinger. You are able to hurl forth a web from spinnerets hidden within your legs as an action. Choose one of the following:
- Web Attack. You gain a Web attack. The attack has a recharge of 5-6. This is a ranged weapon attack. The attack bonus equals your proficiency modifier + your Dexterity modifier. The attack has a range of 30/60 feet and targets one Large or smaller creature. On a hit, the creature is restrained by webbing. As an action, the restrained creature can make a DC 11 Strength check, escaping from the webbing on a success. The effect also ends if the webbing is destroyed. The webbing has AC 10, 5 hit points, vulnerability to fire damage, and immunity to bludgeoning, poison, and psychic damage.
- Webbed Escape. You can hurl your webs exceedingly far, up to 120 feet in a straight, unobstructed line. When the web reaches an obstacle it ends, and adheres to that obstacle. The web functions as a rope, allowing you to climb up, down, or across it. If you attach one end of the web to a solid surface and hold onto the other end, you may also be able to swing on this web.

- Cameron wrapped up our latest subclass - the Bardic College of Voodoo. We were so stoked for how the artwork turned out! Here's their quick pitch - Bards who join the College of Voodoo are ones who normally have an affinity for the dark and macabre, and have taken to meddling with forgotten evils in their pursuit for power. A witch doctor (as they’re sometimes called) knows that the ultimate way to demoralize a foe and strike fear into their hearts is by taking control of and removing their ability to fight back. These bards find harmony in the shamanistic mutterings of voodoo, and are known far and wide for the terror they bring.

- We've also got a new cross promo coming for next month too, with one of our artist peers in the industry doing a special piece for us - the Scarecrow Sentinel. (Picture the scarecrow from Howl's Moving Castle, and tell us that you can't immediately think of several situations where it would have been helpful to have it keeping watch!) The moodboard has been sent off, and we're eager to see what they come up with!
- Beyond that, Connor and Christian and plugging away at the rest of the written content. We've also had some future artwork coming in lately too - for even beyond October. Like this Bemouther for November.....

- ...and did we mention that it's the 3d sculpt for that release??

Enjoy your weekend and we hope you get to roll some dice!
