Hey Critical Crew!
Here's what we've been up to this week:
- All the writing and artwork (apart from the torpid dragon) has moved onto the final stages of formatting and layout, which Dillon is working on along with edits so we're eager to get September's "The Edyn Expedition". The darkbeast (pictured above) is eager to meet your parties.... 😈
- Cameron put the finishing touches on maps this week, and we love dark, dreary encounter settings and the feelings of dread that they can convey to players - so this month's theme was right up that alley! Check out this upcoming map for the Torpid Dragon encounter (pending a few additions):

- Connor wrapped up the player race for next month - the Cristata, molefolk that are native to the caverns and tunnels. It's always fun to see how real world inspiration for these can play out into the mechanics. Check out this excerpt from the racial features, and tell us this isn't going to be a fun race to play as:
Quick Burrow. When you would be hit by a melee attack, you can use your reaction to burrow underground and avoid the attack. While underground, as part of your reaction you can burrow and pop up to the surface of another unoccupied space 10 feet away from where you first burrowed. You can only use this feature while you are on sand, earth (dirt), mud snow, ice or similar terrain. Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until after you finish a short or long rest.
- and for the non-cristata in the party that want to get in on the digging action, check out the upcoming Cristata Claws graft:

- We're also excited for the Magical Tattoo graft - with two different variations: the Absorption Tattoo and the Contingency Tattoo. How gorgeous is this artwork??

- The artwork for this upcoming release is incredible. The upcoming player subclass is the Wizard: Metamancer, and it's a specialized school of wizards based out of Edyn who have learned to harness metamagic to make themselves all the more volatile on the battlefield. Look how insane this artwork is!

- And even though we know that September isn't quite here yet, it's never too early to be focusing on what's to come next! October's artwork is starting to come in, and we're so excited for our latest golem. Check out this first look at the Cauldron Golem!

Hope everyone has a safe weekend, and is able to throw some dice!
