This mourning's update

Hey there wonderful people

This has been a pretty shit month for me. Frankly 2025 is top of my list for worst years ever. Nothing to do with y'all or with stories... just with life hitting me with sickness, after sickness, followed by injury, kid health problems, and then family death hahah.

I made it to Australia just in time. I got to spend about 24 hours with my dad where he was coherent enough to talk and was reminded that we had a few more happy memories than I'd recalled.

It was good to be there. And heartbreaking.

He waited for me. I could tell even without him telling me that now I was there he could rest in peace. That sort of statement really hits you in the guts. I got there just before 9am on the 5th... and he passed away at 4:54pm on the 7th. On Australian father's day.

I'm not sure if that's ironic or not?

I spent the following week trying to keep my cool with my mother. She's a wee bit of a compulsive liar and hates being caught in them... or worse, being called out. It's tiring to be there. But she needed it, and I think I did too.

I got back on Tuesday the 16th at 9pm... and promptly got sick on Thursday morning. I've been running a fever ever since (thanks crappy genetic lung disease).

I'm planning on getting back into working on Library this coming week as I'm chasing off the remainder of my fever today. I'm still a bit foggy, still sort of shaken, but I think creating is just what I need.

More Library coming soon. And then... then I'll finally get to start sharing my new on with you all (once I start drafting it haha).

My dad was the only parent who encouraged and supported my writing. He was my longest standing patron, ever since I first created a Patreon. He read everything I ever wrote, devoured them.

My fingers are kind of itching to write again... Just need to be fever free.
