Update - Another Day, Another Flight

So, expanding on the last post I made. I'm currently sitting in the airport again awaiting the first of three flights to Brisbane Australia, so I can go and see my dad who has just been placed into hospice care.

It's not the trip I wanted to make.

You have to understand that my relationship with my parents is sketchy at best. Not the best childhood, blood family rather than a chosen one. 8700 miles distance between us lends a lot of perspective.

So, this trip isn't something I want to do. To be honest, I wasn't going to go. I spent weeks telling myself that I shouldn't.

But in the end, I think it's something I need to do. For myself.

All of this news hit me at the start of Dragon Con, although the hospice part is new as of about 16 hours ago. Along with a pet death at home, DC this year had a different flavor.

To that end, I'll write when I can, as I can. I'm glad I've already paused the membership.

I really hope you all stick around. The end of the series will be amazing. And then I have a new series I'm ecstatic to get started on as well.
