By popular demand, we finally watched the 2005 film adaptation of the groundbreaking musical that rocked generations of gay high school students, and we're here to tell the tale! From Sarah Schulman to the wickedly talented Adele Dazeem, this one goes out to artists everywhere!

2024-08-17 15:40:36 +0000 UTCOk I saw this as a musical in 1997 and remember nothing about it except being so excited to see Wilson Cruz bc I was a my so called life girlie, but then I looked up the rest of the cast from when I saw it and NEIL PATRICK HARRIS played mark lmao (back then his only other credit was doogie howser 🤓)

I will always have a soft spot for Rent, middle school me was so obsessed with this movie (for unknown reasons at the time, but looking back I was a gay middle schooler, of course I had to look up every reference in La Vie Boheme). Re: offensive characters, Maureen kind of plays that ~slutty bisexual who will cheat on you~ caricature, but I don’t hate it??
