The same thing happened to me, I bought the steam version and I couldn't find a way to buy the latest version on steam as a dlc or something like that, what I did was subscribe to the patreon, install the patreon version and you can transfer your save file from steam to continue where you left off, however the game will no longer be on the steam platform. Hope that helps.
