Hallo from Germany & the start of our 100 Days Challenge!
Added 2025-09-23 21:50:31 +0000 UTCHallo from Munchën!

Okay, more like hallo from Oktoberfest. I did take a mini solo tour to a bookshop yesterday while trying to stave off sleep and get acclimated to the correct timezone, but my Big Explore Munich day is tomorrow! That said, I was very happy with how busy the bookshop, Hugendubel, was and that I was able to pick up a very pretty German copy of The Little Prince!

(Sorry for the fuzzy quality. This is a screenshot of a video, since I'm trying to vlog the trip! A good reminder that I need to take more pictures, though.)
It's 11:05 p.m. as of this writing and they're the first real words I've gotten all day. (Outside of a note to myself, in a sleep addled haze: "It wasn't until the second letter arrived that I realized I had a stalker." I can't remember the entire dream, but I have the beginnings of a first line lol.)
For tomorrow: breakfast at Viktualienmarkt, a wander about the English Gardens, and then a stroll to another recommended book store, Words' Worth! There also looks to be plenty of yarn shops so I'll probably peek in and see if anything strikes me.
Speaking of yarn! I spent the entire plane ride crocheting. I now have about two-fifths of a cardigan complete and I'm hoping to finish it so I can wear it on the trip. There are many train rides ahead of me, so fingers crossed!

(Picture of my crochet beer with my German bier! Actually, a radler, because I'm not a big beer drinker, and the bit of lemonade/soda paired with it is delicious. And double actually, it's not "my" crochet beer anymore, because I gifted it to some new friends from Virginia! We met on the plane ride and then they happened upon us at the Hacker-Festzelt tent. One of them is also a big reader and the other happened to go to the same university as me at the exact same time?? Very small world.)
My other train/plane activity will undoubtedly be tinkering with THANKS FOR WATCHING. I received my edit letter the day before I left and I'm super excited to integrate in the notes! One of my main objectives will be to add a few more scenes from ~certain characters' perspectives~ so that will be super fun to brainstorm and draft.

Finally, I owe y'all some extra Patreon-only streams. Fingers crossed all the construction work will be done in our neighborhood by the time we return and the internet won't randomly drop for hours. I will not miss the sight of cones.
Hope you've had a phenomenal start to your week. And if you're participating in our 100 Days challenge, I hope today's kick-off treated you well! :) This post is now 509 words, including the title, and therefore counts for my 100 Days of Drafting goal! Hopefully tomorrow there will be time to get some more creative words written. :)
Happy writing, friends!

Welcome to Germany! I hope you have a wonderful stay. Breakfast on Viktualienmarkt sounds great, enjoy! And while you are there, take a peak into the churches near it (St. Peter, Heilig Geist and Asamkirche). They are stunning. I love the crocheted beer mug. So cute. :D

As for yarn shops I really like die Mercerie: https://diemercerie.com/en/ and you probably already visited the big one near the town hall: https://kaufhaus.ludwigbeck.de/geschaeft/kurzwaren-und-wolle# (sorry, no English website) I could also show you around, if you like, that would be fun
