Nimbus and Fairy lore

A few weeks ago on my tik tok I made a video where I went into depth about my OC hibiscus. I wanted to do it again with my other ocs but they take a bit a work and I thought I could post them here to help keep some stuff in line.

In the fictional continent of Ryunia, fairies are native to the cold and steep mountainous region of Ryunia. The mountains are so dangerous to travel on that some fairy villages can only be reached by flying.

Fairies are rules by a royal family, the current ruler is Queen storm but she often falls ill so she isn't in the best condition to perform her queen duties so they all fall upon her daughter, princess derecho. Even in the instances where Queen storm is in the proper condition to rule, she focuses on trivial and superficial aspects of ruling. So all the major duties are pushed aside and eventually are things Princhess Derecho has to deal with.

Fairies as a species come in a vast array of colors in all different shades. Fairies don't have skin tone colors like humans. There is this ancient fairy social norm where the more bright and vibrant a fairies color is, the better their magic potential is. While this belief faded out over time, it had left a bit of a social norm where fairies with vibrant colors got a better social standing while those with faded or dull colors received major biased against them.

This is where Nimbus comes in. Nimbus was born with a bit of a dull blue color. Almost looking grey compares to his siblings. Nimbus has two older brothers, Stratus and Coru, and a younger sister, Glimmer.

While they don't share similar colors, Nimbus's siblings were all bright colors, so growing up Nimbus was often overlooked and his parents preferred being around his siblings. Nimbus's parents were also a rare color for fairies, Gold fairies. So his parent's were a high social status and saw Nimbus as a small stain on their reputation.

As Nimbus grew up his parents overlooked and paid him no mind. Nimbus would try all sorts of things to gain their attention, even his siblings tried to make Nimbus the center of attention when given the chance but it didn't help much.

On the bright side this made Nimbus a proficient magic user that can even impress some magekin.

When Nimbus grew up he left home and moved to the Ryunia Capital where he started his new life and mer clay. Which you can guess where it led from there if you've seen any of my nsfw posts.

Some basic trivia about fairies.

• Fairies are able to change the size if their wings temporally. They're able to change them into any size smaller than they actually are but aren't able to magically expand them. This is so fairies can lower the risk of damaging their wings when on the ground or flying in small spaces.
• Fairies magic are concentrated in their wings, so any damage to their wings can drastically effect their health and magic connection. While fairies wings can heal tears they gain, if a wings is damaged severly near the base of the wing, the wing will not heal.
• Fairies have spikes on their shoulders and elbows they use as a natural defense. When relaxed the spikes are dull and safe to touch and are even retractable, but when in danger or attack mode they become extremely sharp and can tear armor and skin. Fairies can also grow more spikes on their arms for an offensive attack.
