Yeah, one of my coworkers a few years back was one of the initial creators and developers of Cinnamon, and he told me that it was basically a half baked fork of GNOME 3, that never really took the time to refactor anything. He hadn't contributed in a while, but he definitely didn't think the code was very pretty

The only website I remember respecting Do Not Track was my university's administrative portal, which showed a vanilla Javascript alert() popup "You have enabled DNT, we're respecting your choice" on *every page load*. You had to either disable DNT for the session, or have a mental macro to hit the Enter key when changing pages. Ah, the memories...

I made the mistake once at looking at the code of Cinnamon. Pretty messy, to be honest. Still lots of Gnome and GTK underneath jumbled together with their code. Needs to be a lot cleaner still. Looks nice, but is still a bit limiting for what I like. Not saying it is bad at all, but I still don't see it as a top-level choice for me.
