Hi Nick. I don't know if it is still the case, but back when I used Manjaro with the proprietary Nvidia driver, I believe they were distributed as flatpaks. I can't check for this anymore, but it could be interesting looking into.

Not sure! I know their sandbox will work only on AppArmor distros, but as per the drivers, I don't know!

The Linux Experiment

I do aggree, but it is still one "universal" packaging format, meaning while it's true i also doubt how universally compatible it is, I'm certain it makes huge steps towards porting those things easily onto other distros.

Packaging third party drivers in a containerized manner like snaps is interesting but I wonder if such packaging will truly work on all distros or is this going to work only on Ubuntu since they have their own patched kernel with their own set of apparmor rules. I'm not convinced that snaps are an universal packaging format.
