Daily Linux & Open Source News - S01E04 - 4% marketshare?

Hey everyone,
Here is today's look at what happened in the Linux and Open Source world!
- 00:10 Linux reached about 4% market share on the desktop in December, but there are some anomalies that make me question that number

- 02:22 RHEL 10 might also drop older CPUs by only supporting v3 of the x86_64 architecture

- 04:58 Plasma 6 reached their funding goal

That would be super interesting, yeah, it could also help focus efforts on conquering certain use cases Linux isn't as well suited for!

I do wish that there was a way to get more concrete usage numbers on various OS's. I also would love to be able to slice that number by use case (work vs home vs education vs gaming, etc) and by other demographics (age, country, sex, education level, job type, etc). Don't know if we'll ever get to that point, but it certainly would be illuminating. Thanks for this daily feed, I am absolutely loving it!

The ChromeOS and MacOS market share falling could be due to Christmas break as I'm guessing a lot of schools and students use Macs and Chromebooks
