The Channel in 2023, and GNOME vs KDE as the default: Patroncast S04E01
Added 2024-01-01 14:20:15 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
Happy new year, and welcome back to the Patroncast!
This is the first episode of the 4th season of this thing, and were going to talk about:
- 02:00 Some channel numbers for 2023, and how we'll do things in 2024
- 11:26 GNOME vs KDE as the default choice for most distros: GNOME is the go-to option for most distributions out there, but with Plasma 6 around the corner, there's a chance this might change!
I hope you'll enjoy listening to this one, and I hope you'll have a great week!

I totally get it for GNOME, I think it has its spot for a lot of people, but if moving to Linux originated from a desire to have more control over your desktop, it's probably not the best choice!

The Linux Experiment

Coupled with my choice of AMD and NixOS yielding a rock solid experience, I have had a very satisfactory Plasma 5 cycle.

2024-01-11 09:01:15 +0000 UTCFor the stats: - Until just yesterday my listening device of choice for the Patroncast was an apple watch, which I would assume registers as iOS? Just switched to listening via AntennaPod - holy hell is the subscription/listening experience nice there! (Especially now that you're absolutely flooding the feed with news - which I can filter out in AntennaPod subscription settings). - For videos you're probably not getting a lot of tracking from me as our setup just fetches channels of choice with yt-dlp. Though for interest: Playback is via Plex - usually on an AppleTV or the Android app.
