Vote on January's topics!

Hey everyone!

Here are the topics I'll work on in January, and your chance to vote on some of them!

So, first, we'll have:
- Linux & Open Source News: 4 of these in January, every Saturday, plus the usual audio podcast version of course

- Slimbook Elemental: a review of this range of laptops from Slimbook, which are relatively affordable as far as Linux laptops go, so I'll focus on the "tradeoffs" and what you get for the price

- Linux distro tier list for 2023: I tried a bunch more distros since I last made one of these, so we'll start the year with a ranking of the distros I prefer, and the reasons why

- Running macOS on Linux: my previous video on this topic was quite popular, but it wildly outdated, so we'll look at home you can do that with a more recent version of macOS, and why you'd want to do that

- Predictions for the Linux desktop in 2024: I'll give my usual wildly inaccurate predictions on what I think will happen in 2024 for Linux and our desktops

Now, for what you can vote on:

- Best lightweight Linux distros: I never managed to find the time to make this one previously, but I already identified a few strong candidates, so I'll take a look at the best options to still get a usable desktop, while minimizing resource usage

- Linux graphics drivers explained: I'll look at how graphics drivers work on Linux, what is mesa, NVK, Nouveau, and at the proprietary drivers for AMD and Nvidia GPUs

- Testing Wayland on Linux Mint: since Mint's latest version will have an experimental Wayland session, I'll give it a shot to see if it works well already, and what are the remaining issues

- I used Windows for 30 days: this one needs a bit of a time commitment, so I'll let you decide if I should do it, and then give my impressions on what I felt was good and easy, and what was annoying and badly designed

Vote for the ones you prefer, and I'll work on the 2 with the most votes!

Of course, in January, we'll also have the start of the daily news recap for Patrons and Youtube members :)

Comments

I’m really looking forward to the MacOs on Linux videos. All these videos about running VM’s in a stable way are really useful. Some people will say that you don’t need MacOs/Windows but my employer forces me to have an iPhone and I would really appreciate to be able to be able to back it up/restore from a Linux VM.

Would like to see all of them 😀
