Steam Deck competition, Immutable systems, and PeerTube - Patroncast S02E38
Added 2022-09-26 14:25:30 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
Here is episode 38 of your weekly podcast!
This time, I talk about:
- 01:10 Competitors to the Steam Deck, and how there really aren't any
- 10:45 The case for immutable systems, and how I think they're basically what we'll all end up using in a few years (IF we can agree on a packaging format that isn't traditional packages, which is far from an easy thing to agree on)
- 17:54 Considering PeerTube, now that they support full channel sync from youtube, I don't think I have any excuses left apart from "I need to find an instance that can host my 500 videos"
I hope you enjoy listening to it!
Best,
Nick

I think it's a pretty good move for them, although for developers who really need that latest versions of libraries, it means they'll have to work out of a container or VM. Personally, I really like having all the latest versions of desktop environments (and I kinda need to as well for my videos), so it means PopOS will have to be replaced by something else!
