ReZero 1x3

Comments

Hey about Subaru calling out Puck's name, they address it in Break Time (well kinda, he sort of dodges it there too). Break Time is the canon (well mostly, the PETIT ones aren't) companion short series for Re:Zero released in tandem with the main episodes (so you'd watch the main S01E01, then Break Time S01E01, then episode 2, etc). They're only 3 minutes long and range in importance from pretty useless world lore (like how clocks work) to minor POVs of side characters which wouldn't feel that out of place in the main episodes, to cut content (a few of which, I cannot stress enough how important they are. Those ones are absolutely critical if you want to theory craft). I highly recommend checking them out (https://rezerodb.com/break_time) if you want a bit more additional depth. I've been enjoying your reactions thus far, and I have high hopes for the rest of your reactions. It's always a good sign when reactors take the time to analyze Re:Zero and particularly understanding (or attempting to) the implications and dynamics that RBD allows for is something that most reactors don't think too much about (but is very important imo). For instance, very few reactors ever even consider that RBD might be limited in some unknown way. Most just accept it as something that is infinite in nature (or worse, the quick load button) (for the meta reasons you've stated) and imo, don't really consider how Subaru perceives it at all (after all, he's not aware that the series exists / continues beyond the current moment). Tangentially to that, a lot of people get very frustrated that Subaru takes as long to figure out RBD as he does. As if there aren't other plausible explanations that are much easier to reach for than "I respawn when I die". Faulty memory and some sort of magic or video game npc logic is far easier to rationalize imo. Though I do agree, meta wise, taking any longer would have been much more grating. Also this is pretty pedantic, but Subaru is 17, he's turning 18 this year (not that this matter at all). Anyway, I hope you continue to enjoy Re:Zero and keep thinking and analyzing the series. Re:Zero is a show that greatly rewards theorycrafting (though statistically, you're probably going to be not fully correct most of the time) imo. I might not comment a lot, since it's hard not to leak information after all and people should let you cook (which inevitably involves letting you be wrong about things), but I've been very much enjoying your reactions thus far and I see no reason why that won't continue.
