Folks who found me on youtube likely have no idea about the other stories I've posted on tiktok since 2021, but I'd like to thoroughly and officially introduce the characters from my polyamorous dragon-shifter story (wow what a mouthful, real name pending lol). This post is a kinda...overwhelming...so do not at all feel pressured to read it all! It will be simply here for reference.
Quick little content warning: This story includes large fantasy age gaps, the youngest being in her late 20's while the eldest is a few centuries old. I know we're all monsterlovers here, but I also know some folks really don't like this trope. Viewer discretion, as always, is advised!
Juliana, Human, Late 20's
Juliana was working as a maid for a wealthy collector/trader in order to send money to her family. One day, her employer managed to buy a stolen, live dragon egg and placed Juliana in charge of its care. While carefully tending to the egg (so that she wouldn't be harshly punished for its death), unbeknownst to Juliana, the egg imprints on her as its new mother and creates a magical bond that cannot be undone. When a couple of dragons sneak into the manor in order to take the egg back, they realize that, because of the bond, Juliana must be whisked away too.
Fun facts:
-Juliana was often bullied by the fellow maids where she used to work because of the exaggerated rumors of her promiscuity. She got landed with the laborious task of taking care of the egg due to her bullies recommending her for it.
-She has a huge family back home and is the first daughter, third child among her nine siblings. Juliana’s father is not trustworthy with money, so she tries to find alternative methods to make sure the money she sends her family is used for feeding and clothing the children rather than fueling his drinking.
-She is a hard worker and does not enjoy living a life subservient to another. Her dream is to run her own business, perhaps a tavern, where she can call the shots.
-Juliana has purposefully over consumed contraceptive herbal remedies to make sure she’ll never get pregnant and, therefore, never die in childbirth like her mother.
Petra, Dragon shifter, Between 200-300 years old
Petra is the not yet middle-aged leader of her small family of dragons. Her long past is haunted with memories of an older dragon she had been in love with, but at the beginning of this story Petra’s family consists of Bea and Ingus.
Their lives collide with Juliana’s when Petra learns of the vanquishing of her past love and the theft of the egg her love had been incubating.
Filled with rage and loss, Petra seeks out and destroys the humans who had killed her lover, but during this realizes that the dragon egg has already been sold to a wealthy collector and was locked up deep in his manor.
With her temper cooled down a bit from successfully exacting revenge, Bea and Ingus are able to convince her to sneak into the manor and take the dragon egg without the killing of human innocents.
While doing just that, Petra bumps into Juliana and realizes quickly that the egg has, impossibly!, imprinted on one of the human servants. At risk of being caught by one of the manor’s guards and without knowing what else to do, Petra steals Juliana along with the egg and carries them both off to the tower she and her family reside in.
Fun facts:
-Petra is a thunder dragon and has the ability to release high-voltage electrical shocks against enemies.
-Petra had been in a century long on again off again relationship with the mother of the dragon egg, to Bea and Ingus’ annoyance.
-Petra is in a romantic/ sexual relationship with Bea and is in a familial, platonic one with Ingus.
-Petra loves gold. Coins, jewelry, raw ingots. It doesn’t matter. She doesn’t wear it herself, but she makes sure Bea, Ingus, and their home is lavish with gold. You could say she hoards it.
Bea, Dragon Shifter, around 200 years old
Bea had been living with her large group of cousins and siblings until she met Petra when she was about 100 years old. Initially, they had a casual relationship, no love, just nightly comfort as they traveled and sparred together, but Bea is the type that knows what she wants right away.
Once Bea was fairly sure that Petra felt the same, she confessed her feelings, and Petra accepted them on the grounds that if her old love came back for her, that Bea would either join them or let her go. Bea agreed.
Bea has spent most of her life learning the various trades from humans and dragons alike. Her favorites have been carpentry, masonry, painting, and sculpting.
Her interest in the arts is what led her to meet Ingus and invite him to meet Petra and live with them in the tower.
One could argue that Bea is the beating heart of their family that connects them all together, and it is through her efforts that Juliana is invited to join their family as well.
Fun facts:
-Bea is a Fume dragon and is able to release a smoke-like fume from her mouth that makes creatures who breathe it in unable to move.
-Bea is likely the only dragon among them who genuinely thinks dragons and humans should be perceived as equals.
-Bea enjoys painting portraits of Ingus and Petra and has made paintings of all her living siblings and cousins as well.
-Bea is fond of listening to Ingus’ exploits when he comes home from a trip, especially his romantic ones.
Ingus, Dragon Shifter, 92 years old
Before meeting Bea and Petra, Ingus had been living life disguised as a human in order to sing songs and play instruments in taverns with hopes of one day performing for a royal court. After he was revealed to be a dragon shifter by one of his many romantic/sexual conquests, Ingus had to flee and wander about waiting dejectedly for his moment to reenter human society. It was around this time that Bea met, took a shine to, and convinced Petra to let Ingus join their family.
As the youngest member of their polycule, Ingus is still extremely curious about life and often goes on long trips outside the tower alone or with Bea. Ingus prefers to be in honest, open relationships and was very happy to find his current situation with Bea. After many decades together, their romantic relationship is stronger and more trusting than ever before.
Because of his charming, energetic nature, Ingus was the first to win Juliana’s trust after her kidnapping and, to Petra’s annoyance, is quickly wrapped around Juliana’s finger.
Fun facts:
-Ingus is a Flame dragon and, like a classic imagining of a European dragon, can breath fire.
-He can play the flute, the lyre, and the lute. He can also sing very well, but struggles when writing his own songs/poetry.
-Ingus is sexually attracted to everyone, but is extremely romantically biased towards women. He absolutely loves women in all their various forms, but he especially enjoys ladies who have a dominant, strong personality.
-Bea is always encouraging him to bring someone home if he wishes to expand the polycule, but he never thought about that seriously until Juliana arrives.
