And there it is.

Sorry for the lack of update over the last month, as you may know, I've been busy working on this project. A month later and I can now say that I've made a little tech demo from scratch! It was a journey and many days left me with terrible migraines that would keep me up at night but it's finished!

The items went through two different passes as to make them more optimized but here's their former look.

And here's the little plateform I made to roam around. It's pretty cramped with the extra barrels, crates and chests but it serves its purpose.

Obviously, with a bit more time and polish, everything would look better but time's running out and I have a whole series to finish and an other one right after to start. The takeaway from this experiment is I'll never make games unless I'm being paid and I don't have to do everything.

All right, now I can go back to working on episode 14. Thank you for your patience and see you in a KG update post! I'm going to fix my sleep and avoid spending too much time in front of a screen for the rest of the week though... Take care!

Late Night Sketches!

Some quick sketches to get back in a drawing mood after 2 weeks of game shenanigans.

A bunch of Neckys and Moons, complete with jumbo versions of themselves: The Hulking and Enormoon. It's been a while since I drew these two and I was in the mood some a calm drawing session.

The Hulking and Enormoon, just like most of Faximili's forms, are non-canonical but pretty cool and feral forms. I can imagine them focusing more of physical strength than magic. Their outfits are a mix of their current and 2013 outfits.

End of April Update.

Hey folks! Sorry for not sharing much since episode 13 was released and 14 started. Episode 14's progress is actually on pause while I'm working on a secret thing that I've talked about before in here.

Again, I don't plan on that being an actual game, but over the last week, I've learned so much about Godot. I'm encountering way less problems than I thought I would and I'm confident I can create every idea I have for this project! Everything is pretty crusty at the moment, don't worry about it.

I didn't show it here but the camera controls are fully set up. It can rotate and the vertical rotation is clamped so you don't go through the floor and stuff. I'm also proud of a "Behind Faximili" button for the camera that resets the position to be right behind her, like in Mario 64.

Right now, I'm trying to add Faximili's wisps, having them fly around her under certain conditions, so I drew this wisp animation, turned it into a sprite sheet and used that to make an animated texture. Added a billboard effect and there it is, it's always facing the camera.

As I'm getting closer to a satisfying result with this, episode 14's progress shall resume. Once the two scenes are fully sketched, streams will also start again! Learning this has just been so fun and it's actually going to be very helpful in my life, going forward. At least, I hope. That's it for now, I won't post too much about this, so expect the next post to be about episode 14, next month.

Hey, it's me, so I've been working on episode 14 for a week now and I'm 5% in. The episode will start with this video game footage. Limited animations and such, I'll add more effects to it with PHOTOMOSH and it'll play through Adeleine's TV.

You may recognize those two monsters from the anime. I remember just wanting to make original characters for this games back in 2020 but I think it'd be more fitting to have monsters from the anime as playable characters. That's when I decided to just make it a Kaiju game. Adeleine mains Tornadon, she's very good at this game.

I'll add the audio soon, maybe tonight, I don't know anymore.

Arise! My child!

I hope you enjoyed episode 13! I didn't expect it to end up being 9 minutes at all. 14 will be much shorter, that's for sure but 16 is going to be a chunky one as well.

Before I start the animation of the 14th episode, I wanted to program something, like a little sandbox game. It'll help me get better at both 3D animation and modelling environments in general, which is always good on a resume. The videos are low quality but if I share more as I go, I'll make sure the quality isn't as crusty.

That's it, I just thought I'd share the current side project. In a perfect world, this would be a neat little thing you could try and mess around with. For now, I'm trying to figure out how to make the dress look good in motion in Godot.

Kirby Guardian Episode 13: One of a kind

BEWARE OF DISPRITES!

These malevolent, reborn creatures find joy in killing Fairies and corrupting eggs to make them join their ranks. After a century old disappearance, these fiendish sprites are looking for Fairy eggs to corrupt in order to repopulate the depths of Ripple Star! If you see a lone egg in an Egg Flower, please take care of it before a Disprite claims it.

COMMUN ANCESTOR, DIFFERENT SPECIES.

Both Fairies and Disprites share the same general body shape. While ALL Disprites are covered in freckles, some Fairies can be born with freckles too. This DOES NOT make them a disprite. Our beloved Queen has freckles and is a kindred spirit. Glory to the Fairy Queen!

A DARK FASHION SENSE.

Disprites dress in long, dark robes and wear red heels. They share that type of clothing with the Banshee Clan, those dark, renegade Fairies who sold their soul and wings to bring the Disprites back to the realm of the living. The Banshee Clan are weak ex-fairies. Their lack of a soul prevents them from fertilizing Egg Flowers, which lead them to their demise.

FAIRIES HAVE ONE PAIR OF WINGS!

Disprites have TWO. If you see anything resembling a Fairy that sports two sets of wings, GET AWAY FROM THEM AND TELL OUR QUEEN ABOUT THEIR PRESENCE. The corrupted pink-haired individual from the southern forest has been spared by our Beloved Queen, however she is not to be trusted. Keep your distances from the anomaly to prevent any potential harm.

This is it, Luigi!

Tonight, I add the audio for the last clip, put everything together in VSDC and it's ready to go! While I was away today, the laptop has been working all day to export every clip in 4K. I'm sure I'm gonna catch some errors, as I watch them over and over but at least all the editing will be done and I'll just have to re-export the bad clips.

Also, I made this, as I still needed a tune to serve as a bridge for different clips. Please enjoy!

Last week of animation

This is the last animated character of the episode, after her, it's only stills, effects and limited stuff. I will finish her fully tonight and start the stills afterwards so I can also start working on the audio even before completely finishing this clip.

You have no idea how great it is to be almost done with a clip's animation without having to remember that "Oh yeah, the backgrounds need to be done..." Anywho I gotta get back to my side gig selling salads! Take care everybody, see you when the animation is done for the next update!!

Overlay Events Artwork + KG13 Update

Here are all the Event possibilities for now! Which one is your favourite? Perhaps more events will be made in the future, I'm thinking of what could be fun but for now, episode 13 is all I want to care about. It's at 90% completion and tomorrow, I will have all the backgrounds ready to be painted over!

Thank you all for your patience, I hope the many artworks I made in the meantime kind of made up for this episode taking an extra month! The last clip won't take as long as I thought it would've and I'd like to have it all animated by the next week.

"Mother's Rings" and "High-Wind Guardian"

Adeleine and The Company are spending some time outside. For the Company, it's a new adventure starting, with their mother as the main attraction! Flying around, climbing and trying to follow in her footsteps, the pink soldiers always feel safe and invincible when Mama is around!

For Adeleine, it's a relaxing and slow walk on Green Grounds with her ten overjoyed babies. Their bond is so strong, these days, that even an absent-minded Adeleine wouldn't hurt her youngs by accident. It's second nature to her and she didn't even realize it!

Only... 1 clip... left...!

Aside from colours, there's one last clip to animate. I'll work on that offline while the next streams will be about backgrounds. Currently, the episode is at 81% and this week's goal is 85%. I'll still be at a weird spot up until May but I'm managing to get stuff done!

Pondering the orb in March.

March is here and quite a lot happened in February. Episode 13's progress will resume later this week, as I've been working on different things recently. I've also accepted a fixed-term contract at my previous work place, but this shouldn't affect the process too much. I should be back on stream next week, if everything goes right!

I still hope to have the episode finished this month, I just like and need to switch between projects once a month. It's more necessary than one may think.

A bunch of photographs, some items and a KG update!

As I reached 80% completion on KG episode 13 yesterday on stream, I'm also working on a new update in my spare time. A new item will appear from Faximili's pocket: Scrap. Allowing people to build items.

3D Faximili again?

Today is Guardian Day but I've been working on a litttle thing for the last 3 days!

Arise! My child! I think I'm getting better and faster at making those, it's my fifth character model ever, including The Company. All made from scratch, as always. I think she looks more slick then the previous ones. Also, here's a bunch of items: A phobo fruit, a promo fruit, potions and some strange meat!

I'll spend the rest of the day making a KG artwork for the day now!

February!

This month is going to be something. But I've sketched Clip 7 fully and hope to also sketch Clip 6 tomorrow! That will also allow me to have more material to work on live. This is it, the last 3 clips of the episode are being worked on!

To celebrate, please have this little fairy. Feed them well and they'll occasionally emit funny squeaky sounds, it's actually the best thing on the planet right now.

Tonight, 6 clips are fully done. This weekend, I sketch the remaining scene and next week, it's back to animation.

While I won't be streaming the process from now on, I'll still share the work on the next 3 clip here, obviously! It's getting there, slowly but surely! I'll spend the rest of the weekend to polish the already animated clips and then jump right into the last scene!

Not much to share...

Episode 13 is progressing steadily, I believe 60% should be reached by the end of the week, with 70% being the objective for the month!

After that, though, I'll run out of things to stream aside from backgrounds but I'm willing to do that if it means I can avoid spoilers. Besides, the episode would only be about a month away by that point. Take care, gang, I'm very happy with the progress!

53% on KG13 and New Overlay Forms!

This week, I'll be focusing on backgrounds for episode 13! I've been working on clips 4 and 5 (out of 9 in total) on stream for the past couple of months and the animation process for both is finished!

Offline, I'll work on clips 6, 7 and 9, the "meat" of the episode but may stream some of those clips, as I want to take streaming more seriously. More KG artwork and gifs soon!

More Forms!

All forms were unlocked on tonight's stream! Despite a couple of hiccups, it ended up working. Next week, I should have a flawless overlay, hopefully!

I will tweak more things on the Dex and think of two last rewards for completing tasks. I'm happy, but now it's 5:40AM and me smile is fading away.

The last of the overlay!

And with the potion brewing feature fully added, I'm working on the last bit of animation for this "update". The new forms were completed earlier this week but I thought of something today and immediately made it: A Shiny potion. A rare chance, while brewing a potion, to get a shiny one for the cost of no ingredients.

Faximili will immediately use it, which will assure she never leaves the overlay, makes her sober for longer and unlock all magic and battle mode. Once one Shiny potion is made, a golden star will appear on the overlay and a command will allow viewers to trigger this at anytime.

Faximili sounds

Episode 13 is 35% completed, I can still reach 40 before the holidays but I wanted to add more to my Twitch overlay, again!...

Four new forms for Faximili to take on and a new potion brewing system. I hope this will work. What I plan on doing is having ingredients serve as rewards for Dream and Battle, but you can also get a few with Pickpocket. Mixing specific ingredients together will make a special potion to alter Faximili's appearance.

I don't have much to show, so, here are all of her form's sounds. In order: Mini, Dark, Casu, Maxi, Cosy, Barrel, Above, Below, Light and Wisp.

Drawing unrelated.

Tomorrow, I'll be starting work on the second scene of the episode. Having the scenary for both Adeleine and Ribbon's places already modelled saves a lot of time! It should be pretty quick to work on, as the characters won't be moving much. (Aside from The Company whose part of the episode I'm looking forward to animating!)

After this one, episodes 14 and 15 will be less story-heavy, as to not overwhelm the audience with too much backstories back to back. That stuff's gotta be introduced over the course of the series and not all at once, ya feel me? :]

December Update!

December's here and the next episode is 28% completed! The very first scene should be finished this week, as I work on the last camera shot for it on stream, this Tuesday and Wednesday. Then, I'll be at 33%, so 1/3 of the way there!

Then, I'll work on Clip 4 and 7, which shouldn't take too long. A February release would be perfect for the 5th anniversary of the series but it's not expected.

More Faximili...

Over the last three days, I've been working on new things for Faximili's overlay rewards, which may as well be an ARG, at this point. I just have one thing to animate: An explosion.

I've worked everything out in SAMMI for the most part but tomorrow will be the Test Day, hoping I can get everything to work before Tuesday's stream. I'm very happy with everything I could code and animate, I just hope the troubleshooting won't be too much...
