I’m experimenting with making some stationary for February and trying to integrate my lineart-heavy and more grungy style with something more cute and calming... I’m not sure how I feel about this experiment but let me know what you think!

K.O. walkthrough

So, I was really inspired by the way that Dan Hipp's been using colored pencil for lineart lately-- I really love his art direction and illustration and if you haven't checked it out you definitely should. 

First, I started out with a cleaned up sketch: 

And I printed this out, I then did lineart on top of it using a combination of a Sharpie brush pen, Faber Castel Polychromos pencil and layout bond paper (you could also use tracing paper).  Then I scanned it in and cleaned it up using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

I had to cut off some part of it for the crop though... I wanted it to be a vaguely square shape. 

After that I move on to Procreate: 

I make the lineart layer transparent and create the background color (though I change this later). 

I made Raven one separate color to work off of and Beast Boy another color on a separate layer. 

I lay out the rough colors and merge the layers, this way I can see what I'm going to change later-- I decided to change a lot. 

Of all the things I did, the most important I think is adding a texture layer over everything on an Overlay. Other than that, I did the background on a separate layer, used several different colors over the lineart on a Clipping Mask, from there I toyed with the final colors (adding the bright pinky red to BB's shirt and Raven's eyes for cohesion) and it was done!

So I started working on a children's book based on my own experiences (as some of you may know, I'm autistic) and I have a few updates of that so please let me know what you think! It's in some early stages but I have some spreads done.

Art Block

Hello everyone, 

I hate to say this but I've been going through a lot emotionally (probably due to the pandemic) and as such, I've gotten a really bad case of Art Block. I don't know what to draw or the art just isn't coming out how I want. 

If it's possible, please reply with things you'd like to see from me and maybe it'll give me some creative juices. 

I'm currently working on my sketchbook which is nearly done (only 3 more pages to go!) which when it's completed I'll have a sketchbook tour for my $10-$15 patrons as well as a scanned PDF for $5 patrons. 

Monthly Wallpaper

I realized I totally forgot to do a monthly wallpaper for October!! Hopefully this one looks nice, I was messing around with some surface design and it gives me some Monsters Inc vibes but I was thinking of creepy twins maybe for an episode of Skulldesac.

A Secret Project

So I can't say exactly what this is for just yet, it's a very super secret project. However I'm really excited to show the process and what I've done so far! This may be the finished project, I'm not sure yet. 

CATS series

Here’s my series of cats that I’ve designed, some different breeds then different positions and finally (the one that shows up first) a more cartoony conclusion where I just experiment with shapes.

Doing these things as a personal project was really good I think for my character designing skills, finding different ways to draw things but still in my style, I had fun with it but it was also very challenging too.
