Races of Worldspire Mark 9| Major mechanics update, lore Update coming soon!

Hey everyone! 

To begin this month, I have a major mechanical update for the Races of Worldspire! Some races are gone, others have been overhauled, and a few are more or less the same. This month as a whole will see a push to get a lot more of the lore and setting information done and out on the Patreon before we move to the next steps. The next update for Worldspire will be a lore update primarily, but expect more mechanics changes as well. 

I also wanted to say that last month was a bit of a crazy time and it looks like this month is shaping up to be even crazier. My heart goes out to the people of Ukraine. They are struggling and I hope the situation can be resolved before things get even more bloody and cruel than they already are. But I digress. The world is messed up and I know you all come here for fun and Dungeons and Dragons content, not more of the world. I hope you all enjoy the update and it brings some joy in such a strange time.

Changelog: 

Ankhali - Few changes, mostly just a new name for their Fire resistance and the ability to ignite things. 

Bloodborn - Complete overhaul of what was Bloody Shield into Armor of Blood. Changes to Bloody Weapon (Now just Blood Weapon). Small change to Telepathy for balance purposes. 

Daywalker - Small update on Healing Factor to let you do it for free on a hit with your fangs, and lowering the level of Hypnotize Thrall. 

Etherkin - Darkvision removed, Ghost Sight expanded. No real change otherwise. 

Evarcha - Urticating Hairs removed, replaced with Eight Limbs. Spider Climb changed to be pushed back to 3rd level, Venomous Fangs rewritten to flow better in game. 

Nosfera - Vicious Bite removed, Replaced by Vestigial Wings

Nyctopa - Removed Entirely. 

Ulfuric - Complete overhaul. Pretty much the same concept at the end of the day, but with a cold and frost theme and much more balanced. 

Vuldr - No real changes. 

Watcher - Nearly complete overhaul. Wasn't happy with how bland they felt. Much more of a lean into the divine aspect of them and the role of one who watches. 

Xinph - Small wording updates, no real changes otherwise. 

Asperid Elf Subrace - Wording, golden apple changed to short or long rest. 

Dream Gnome - Removed Entirely.

A Star Trek Brew for fun

Hey everyone! 

It's taking me a bit longer than I would like to work on some updates for some personal reasons, but this Wednesday will see a big one for The Worldspire Journal and for the Guide to the Hollow Core. 

In the meantime, I have been watching Star Trek: Deep Space 9 through again recently and I always forget exactly how much I LOVE it. So, I felt like giving a brew a chance for some of the races. They need a lot of refinement and power balancing, but I actually think this would be a fun project to do. Maybe make a low magic setting for them to play in based on DS9. I don't know.

Is this something you all would like to see more of? Are there any other sci-fi/fantasy series races you would want me to try my hand at?

Primerva's Guide to the Hollow Core Update| Corant and Ongoran Races

Hey everyone! It's been a minute and I am sorry for that. I've been dealing with a heavy load at college and pretty intense depression again. The two have been keeping me away from my passions consistently since late January and that only made things worse for me. I plan to get back on the horse here, no matter what. 

I also want to say that I deeply appreciate you all staying on last month despite the lack of content near the end. I really, really appreciate all of you. Thank you so much. 

But, on a happier note, I have two new races for the Hollow Core setting for you all! The orangutan based, stone fisted, incredibly smart and wise Ongoran and the graceful, monastic orchid mantis based Corant. And, if you missed them, their is the Temink as well! They are a deeply spiritual pangolin based race with a crazy long, prehensile tongue!

Request Submission/Poll January 2022

This months poll is going to be for the new Hollow Core campaign setting. Since it's so new, I want to get your opinions on what should go into it. 

As you all know, I really enjoy creating new races. It's probably the thing I am the best at when homebrewing. So, for this month's poll I want to focus on working something I know how to do and can ensure a good product. With my Covid situation, I want to make sure I can get something out for this by the end of the month for you all. 

The options presented here are all likely to go in at some point, but in this case it's more about which one I put my focus towards to end this month. 


As per usual, I am also open to other suggestions for just about anything. Have an idea you want to see that doesn't fit into any of the settings found here? Shoot and I'll see what I can do! If you have an idea for one of the existing ones, the same goes!

Pacific Rim Kaijuborn Supplement Mark 3| Human-Kaiju hybrid variant race.

Hey everyone. Sorry there isn't more with all the wait. Unfortunately, Covid hit me a lot harder than I thought and it ruined my ability to focus for the last 2 weeks. My lungs and joints ache like hell still, but most of the other symptoms have been gone for the last few days now. 


***SPOILERS FOR PACIFIC RIM: THE BLACK BELOW***

I'm doing my best to get caught up on the work for everything. It's just gonna be slow going for awhile, I think.  I was working on a few things that I hoped to have done tonight, but they aren't quite ready enough to post yet. So, for now, I decided to adapt the boy from Pacific Rim: The Black as a human variant. I've got a few ideas for where to take it in the next update so it can compete with the likes of the human variant a bit better. But that's all I have for right now. Again, I'm sorry everyone. Regular posts will resume from this point on.

Sorry about the lack of content this last week and a half. Covid knocked me on my butt and I couldn't think stright with the muscle fatigue, constant coughing, and burning in my lungs. But it's mostly passed now. I'll do my best to resume regular posts this coming week and I'll get something out tomorrow for you all. I appreciate all of your understanding.

I know a lot hasn't changed since the last update, but I hope the title of this post explains things a bit. Sorry everyone! 


Since the last update, my goal has been to dial in mechanics I like, rebalance things, and figure out some better names for features. I have two other races on the back burner for this right now: One is a ape/monkey race and the other is based on the axolotl and the Chinese giant salamander. If I have the time and I am feeling up to it, I'll try to post something for them tomorrow or Monday.

Primerva's Guide to the Hollow Core Races Mark 2

      Hey everyone! for the first post of the year, I decided it should be to refine and experiment with the races posted at the end of Kaiju Christmas for the new Hollow Core campaign setting. 

      Since the races used were of older brews, I didn't want them to be too similar to what you all have seen before. I am not trying to reuse old work. Rather, I have concepts that I like to return to and expand on later. In this case, these races are ones I have had on the back burner for quite some time in some cases. The saurial, for example, are a concept a few years old now. Same with the sakol. I just never really got around to updating them and, well, they fit really well into the new setting! 

     With all of that in mind, these are, as usual, some pretty experimental features in some cases. The Nidaren suction cups feature is perhaps the one in need of the most fine tuning in terms of strength. But yeah, in my honest opinion they are much more interesting now. 

     I also took the liberty of renaming the dionaea to the drosaci. I use placeholder names at times that are derived from the scientific name of a creature. In this case, they were named after venus fly traps. But they are more than that now and it wasn't quite what I wanted. 


Sorry for there being no image this time, by the way. I don't want to get in the habit of using other people's art too often on here just to make things look prettier. I do so with the kaijuborn because I do not intend to actually publish them for fairly obvious reasons.

Announcing Primerva's Guide to the Hollow Core! A campaign setting for Dungeons and Dragons 5e that takes place in a hollow earth. To start, here are the first races! The final post of Kaiju Christmas is here!

     Hey everyone! I figured I would end the year with something exciting! This will likely be the last post of 2021, but I may have something else come out tomorrow if I can find the time and energy to put it all together. If not, it will be the first post of 2022. 

     Primerva's Guide to the Hollow Core is an upcoming new campaign setting for Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition that takes place in a hollow earth not unlike that found in the recent Godzilla Vs. Kong by Legendary pictures. 

     In this end of the year update, we have a selection of races that I have had on the back burner for awhile now. Some of them you may be familiar with from older versions of the Gothic/Dark Fantasy Worldspire campaign setting. But the versions here are different in both mechanics and lore, I assure you:

The Dionaea- a carnivorous plantfolk race with an acidic and sticky touch. 

The Nidaren- an aquatic race of jellyfish-like creatures that roam the oceans of the Hollow Core. 

The Sakol- an aggressive race of centipede-like humanoids living in the trees.

The Saurial- dinosaur humanoids mostly resembling raptors and T.Rex. Their empire is the mightiest in the Hollow Core and few would dare contest them. 

     These are by no means the final versions of these races. As you all know, I like to tinker for awhile to make sure that things are where I want them. And I will likely add more as well. Races are my favorite thing to homebrew, so if you have any ideas let me know! 


     I want to assure you all that the Kaijuborn aren't going anywhere. The idea here is to create a campaign setting in which they will fit like a glove without having to actually put them into something I would like to publish someday. I doubt TOHO would give me the rights to include them in this anyway. 

     So, the plan is to work on both in tandem so that they can mesh together, but to not directly include the kaijuborn as of now. I may include the base race and a few subraces styled after some of the big names, but obviously I won't be including Godzilla or Ghidorah in it.

Hey everyone! It's day 2 (ish, if you saw Yesterday's delay lol) of Kaiju Christmas! For this day, I updated my old Mech Pilot Artificer brew that I was extremely unhappy with to the now pretty rad Jaeger Pilot subclass. 


It still needs a lot of work though. It's pretty inelegant in the wording and there are some things I think need changed a bit, but for a mark 2 version, it is SO much better and I need more time to think of what exactly it needs before the next update, so bare with me. As always, playtesting, if you want to and have the time, would be appreciated! My favorite part of it is the Drift mechanics for two people piloting the same Jaeger. What do you all think?

Announcing Kaiju Christmas!

To round out this year, I plan to spend the last few Saturdays and Wednesdays (except for Christmas for obvious reasons) to post Kaijuborn content to help us all get into the season! 

This will also serve as this month's fan request! If you have anything you really want to see me tackle from Godzilla to Pacific Rim, let me know! Right now, I am planning on making a supplement for Pacific Rim Kaiju subraces and to update the Mech Pilot Artificer! But, if you have a really good idea, I'll give it a shot!

Races of Worldspire Mark 8| Huge lore and mechanics update!

     Hey everyone! Sorry for the absence this month. College has been kicking my butt and my finals honestly sucked quite a lot, but they are done! Your regularly scheduled posts will return!... Kind of. Since Christmas this year falls on a Saturday, that day will be absent save for a happy holidays post. 

     For now, enjoy the new post for the Worldspire campaign setting! We've got a large update that overhauls the old lore to be much more consistent and in line with my final vision. We've got giant kaiju gods, fallen angels, Fey, dreamlands, SPACE, and more added into the lore for the setting now!

     Honestly, so many of the mechanics and all of the lore has been updated so, if you are playing one of the races contained within this document, you should really look it over! 

     I'll post some of the cosmology for the setting that is contained within this new lore dump alongside the changelog for everything.

Worldspire Races Mark 7 Update| Trimming, filling holes, and getting more in line with the SRD for future publication.

Hey everyone! 

     Tonight, I've got a pretty interesting update for the Worldspire Races document. The goal right now is to narrow themes, try to make things fit in the setting (and if they can't, removing them), and getting things more in line with 5e Systems Reference Document for future publication purposes. So, to achieve this, we've got a pretty long Changelog:

- All lineages changed to races. Unfortunately, the lineage system is not in the SRD yet, so I cannot use it for publication without publishing solely on the DMsGuild. 

- The Rasseln Race has been shelved for now. 

- The Nidaren Race has been shelved for now. 

- The Vindreyan Dragonborn has been shelved for now. 

- The Moon dwarves have been shelved for now. 

- The Spell-Touched Human has been shelved for now. 

- The Ortnir halfling has been shelved for now. 

- The Ankhali have a suggested ASI and the Skilled Travelers has been replaced with Phoenix blood (resistance to fire damage), and the flight feature is less limited. 

- The Bloodborn now have a suggested ASI and a feature called Host Knowledge (skill choice). Additionally, telepathy is less restricted. 

- The Daywalker race has been added. Slight update from Wednesday's brew for more synergy with the Hypnotize Thrall feature. 

- The Desmodai's bat wings flight is less limited. The Fangs feature now has a bonus action bonus. The wording for Ultrasonic Screech has been changed to better allow for echolocation like visibility and is now short or long rest. New lore coming soon. 

- The Etherkin have a suggested ASI. 

- The Evarcha Arachnid affinity has been changed to Arachnid Speech to further distance from non-srd wording and the Webslinger feature is now short or long rest. 

- The Nosfera have had their Maw of Seething Flame feature removed and the Blood Rush feature has been updated and expanded in compensation. 

- The Ulfuric has a Suggested ASI and a new feature called Hunter's Instinct (skill choice from Perception, Survival, and Nature). 

- The Vuldr have been overhauled to better fit the setting. They are now Humanoid and fey, lakestride has been removed, Fox Fire has been reworked, Favor of the Winter Winds has been removed. Fey Tricks added, Vulpine Agility added. 

- The Watcher race added (aasimar/tiefling alternative since the aasimar are not srd and the tiefling doesn't really fit the setting that well). 

- Xinph, no change. They are good for now. 

- Asperid elf subrace, no change beyond the new wording for speak with snakes. 

- Dream gnome subrace, no change. 

- ASI change portion added at the beginning of the doc to clarify my intentions with giving suggested ASI's to the races with recent developments.

Daywalker Lineage Mark 1| A new lineage for the Worldspire campaign setting based on Blade, classic slavic folklore, and Dracula to give another option for a vampiric player experience

Hey everyone! Sorry for this being another late post, but today has been busy! 

I present to you all an alternative to the clunky and, in my opinion, uninspired Dhampir lineage from Van Richten's; the Daywalker lineage. 

I LOVE the blade movies. I grew up on them and I honestly just couldn't get over how WotC dropped the ball on making a race that might actually make you feel like you're playing blade. It's too...by the books and generic for me. So, I decided to make my own for the new setting and man, it turned out pretty fun! 

One thing I would like to address though is Sunlight Sensitivity. I know a lot of people hate this feature, but honestly, I love it. The flavor is off the charts with it and, personally, I like having to plan around a negative. It makes the game more fun! If you don't want to play with, I understand and I recommend just removing it with DM approval in that case. The race should still be balanced without it.

Fighter| Guardian Shell Knight Mark 1 release for Gamera Day! The Gamera subclass is here!

Hey everyone! I've got a new subclass for you today, the Guardian Shell Knight Fighter Subclass! Built around Gamera as a concept, the subclass is designed to make you feel more like you are actually playing Gamera, regardless of if you chose the kaijuborn subrace for him.

Worldspire Races and Lineages Mark 6| A HUGE update with much more to come!

Hey everyone, sorry for the late post (as usual hahaha!), but I was working on a a race that didn't pan out (yet) for a lot of the day and got kinda distracted. 


This is a big update for the Worldspire campaign setting. I've started to include the PHB races that are free to use in the 5e SRD and covering the holes where I can't use other things. I also added a bunch of new racial variants, and a few new races and lineages. Some things have also been moved around, such as the Ankhali becoming a race rather than a lineage for many reasons. 


But yeah. I managed to hurt myself pretty bad on Thanksgiving with burns and a messed up knee, so I'll get to a changelong another time. I know I said I would for the last brew for the playtest material, but I kinda blitzed ahead and that was no longer feasible. The likelyhood of that happening again is pretty high, so please bear with me!

Happy Thanksgiving to those that celebrate it!

Today is a day of giving thanks and I wanted to let you all know exactly how much I appreciate your continued support.

Over the last few months, I have had troubles mentally, like I usually do. I lost my father just before the year began to Covid, school has been kicking my butt, and my clinical depression has been a consistent problem. 

But the fact that I have the support of friends, family, and random strangers on the internet who for some reason believe in me and the things I create brings me great joy and keeps me going making content.

The Yamagero| A frog/toad race based on the toads of Mount Myƍboku from the anime Naruto and Naruto Shippuden

So, I think this one deserves an explanation. 

I've been binge watching the Naruto series again in preparation for running a Naruto 5e game and I honestly just love the frogs. They are so freaking cool. They live for thousands of years, naturally draw on nature energy (sage jutsu), and they have their own form of martial arts. Plus the setting they live in is just RAD AS HELL. 

With all that in mind, I felt like I had to try my hand at making them as a 5e race. Let me know what you think!

Monk: Way of the Strongest Update

Got an update for an old brew for this Saturday. Based on Yujiro Hanma from Baki: The Grappler, the Way of the Strongest is a strength based monk subclass that needs to go through proper playtesting. As of right now, everything and the kitchen sink have been thrown at the wall for it so it is likely very strong.
