Atmus wanders into a home (contact sheet)

A contact sheet from a shoot last night. Excited to be bringing the camera out for some projects recently... more coming soon!!!

I've been under a rock working on my qualifying paper in my MFA program, probably the most intensive written piece I will make here! The last few months have been full of research and sketching, but I'm starting to get a lot of more finalized works together.

A wild animal in my home

Making some sketches with some new eyeshine mods I made for Atmus. Playing with the different contexts I might use this effect, very pleased with how well the cellphone like catches the reflection!

Dangerfox at AC2018

A couple photos of artist/fursuiter DangerFox on their pennyboard at AC 2018. I spotted them walking around the convention floor and asked if they'd be willing to model for a few shots out on the roof. Love their style!
Hi-res files in the attachements!

Livestreaming update

Hi! As marked on my goals, after surpassing $50/month in patreon revenue, I have begun making moves to set up a livestreaming lets play/performance with Atmus. Later this week I will be meeting with faculty and staff at UNM's ARTSLab facility to begin devising the setup for the piece. ARTSLab has generously offered to host the work with their new livestream studio.

The plan currently is for Atmus to host a public Lets-Play of Majora's Mask, and to use the time as an opportunity to reflect on the connection between videogaming, the social internet, and Furry identity, through conversations with viewers and commenters during the stream.

Dates are still up in the air, hopefully I'll be able to nail down a one or two regularly scheduled weekly sessions, sometime in the coming months. Stay tuned for more info as the project develops!

Atmus Drying

A sketch from my time at Anderson Ranch. Still thinking about how to make it more clear that Atmus is being inflated by the fan he is drying on. Liking how the decapitated head looks though! And the cord too. Will probably try reshooting another time in my own studio to give it a bit more of a setting.

Cambria Vaping (sequence)

Hello!!! I am back from my residency at Anderson Ranch with a brain full of new ideas and new friends. My second year of grad school starts on Monday, summer is nearly over!!
Happily, the fervor of the last few weeks has given me some distance from my Anthrocon photos, and now I'm enjoying coming back to them with fresh eyes. Here's a little sequence I liked of my friend Cambria vaping outside the hotel. Full res in the download. Will be posting more from AC and from Anderson Ranch in the coming weeks.

Thanks to my new August patrons!!!

(contact sheet) Atmus in the woods at night

Another set I'm still looking at to try and find my favorite frame, I like the kind of game-cam feeling of these. I took these photos out in the park in my neighborhood, one of the first places I took my camera as a teenager. I would go out at night with my camera and a flashlight and make self-portraits, it was interesting to return to the whole exercise.

BLFC 2018 Patron Album

Here we go! My first patron exclusive convention album. Below is a dropbox link to around 100 photos selected down from everything I shot at Biggest Little Fur Con in Reno, NV this year. The album is a mix of posed portraits and convention wandering.

If you find a photo of yourself or your friend that you'd like to share, you are welcome to post that file online, so long as you post with credit that it came from my patron exclusive portfolio (a link to my twitter or patreon page would be great!).

I would be interested to hear how this system of distribution (dropbox folder) works, unsure of what might make more sense but I'd love to hear feedback.

Enjoy!!

Atmus in the forest

Here's the frame I ended up choosing from this shot, full size is in the attachment. Looking forward to making prints of this one :)
A friend mentioned that this shot reminded them of old Disney films. The Bambi reference is there of course, but I also think there is something here about the way disney layered out their forest backgrounds on those old glass plates.

I was going to link an image for example but decided that might be dangerous with how vicious Disney can be about IP use. Sooo, google it yourself if you're interested!

(contact sheet) Rubbing antlers

Thinking about animal behavior. Another shot from the morning out in PA woods. These feel silly but I guess that's there in all the work anyway! Kind of like the set more than any individual frame. Maybe the final piece is a series. Thinking out loud!!

(contact sheet) Atmus in the forest

Woo!! I'm finally back on solid ground here in Albuquerque. I have SO many photos to go through and I'm excited to share a lot of them here.

Here is a contact sheet from a shoot I was really excited about. When I was back staying at my family home, I planned a shoot early in the morning at sunrise, wandering through the old nature trail behind my neighborhood. I found a couple scenes on my walk, but this shot came on my walk back to the car. The light coming through the trees was too perfect to pass up. I'm glad I stopped. A high-res file of the frame I choose will be going up sometime soon!

(Wallpaper) Midwest Furfest 2012 Group Photo

Another wallpaper size image from my archive. Here is a fursuit group photo I shot at Midwest Furfest 2012. The image was shot on 4x5 color negative, which gives it a lot better detail and color I think. I doubt all the fursuiters in attendance would fit on this little block outside the hotel anymore. In 2012 the convention attendance was 3,216, this last year it was 8,771! I'm still amazed by that growth.

Anyway, enjoy!

Summer plans

Hi! I'm very excited to be kicking off this Patreon as a new platform for making and sharing my work. As this project unfolds, I will be very interested to hear from you: tell me what you like seeing, tell me what you'd like to see!

I'm getting ready to leave tomorrow for a two week trip back to Pennsylvania. I'll be landing in Pittsburgh for Anthrocon, where I'll take a few commissions and be shooting a lot of work for myself as well. If you are going to be at AC and would like to pick up your polaroid in person, please get in touch with me!

From AC I head back to my hometown of State College, PA for a visit with my family. In State College, I have plans to make a couple more portraits exploring my family home and neighborhood with Atmus. During this trip I won't have access to my computer or my editing software, so I won't be able to post any finalized work until later in July once I have returned.

When I return from PA, I'll also have time to sit down and mail out those polaroids to all $5/month and up patrons. If for any reason your mailing address changes between now and then please let me know!

That's all for now! I'll have more information on plans as the month develops.

Studio view, gazing ball

Here's the image I ended up picking out from the photoshoot. I decided a square composition made the most sense for focusing on the reflection. Full-resolution in the attachment!

Contact sheet- Atmus has a tear

Just going through my archives to find a few things I think might be of interest. Here is a contact sheet from the initial photoshoot when I found a tear in Atmus's body. I liked keeping the head on, but I wanted to be able to look at the tear—like I could with the head off. I ultimately ended up reshooting the piece with a mirror in order to give a way for Atmus to seem to be looking at the tear himself. I had my cake and ate it too!

Atmus on the Sandia Mountains

Here is a video piece I made this spring, dancing up on the Sandia mountains in Albuquerque, NM. I'm still working on my dance moves, and might go back someday with higher-quality camera equipment. Song is "Living my Life" by Deerhunter (haha, yes it was on purpose!).

The Password for the video is "deerdance"

(Wallpaper) Atmus Dreaming

Baby's first post!! To get started here, I'm uploading a few hi-res landscape images that I think might also make for some choice computer wallpapers. I've got a few selected that I'll be uploading over the next few days. But if you have an image in mind that you'd like to see, let me know!

Full-res file in attachment!
