Doomsday Patch Updates

Lots of stuff to update so here is how we do it:

I made a Google Drive folder where you'll find all the updated mods sorted by date

You can either download them as I go or wait for me to finish and download it all at once. For now I'll just drop the files in the folder NOT IN THEIR PATREON POSTS. At the end of the nightmare I'll go around to fix the posts on Patreon too.

Thoughts on the new Patch

Alright, as soon as Bloodfiremage showed me the content of the new patch I told myself "Ok, I'm going to shut up, I'm not going to lose money over his again.", turns out... I can't. I can't shut up about stuff I think are potentially dangerous in a game played for the large part by kids, and only promoted to make money in a mindless propaganda to "support minorities". 

I support the minority I want to support which is the one I belong to.

I picked some screens because there is nothing better than actually showing instead of wasting too many words on it, but don't take my word for granted, go and see for yourself if you're really interested, and formulate your own opinion with your own head. Just please be respectful, don't put ideologies above people. This isn't about proving who is right or wrong, it's about showing the other side of the coin, one that often activists don't want to see and don't want others to see. 

Now, if you're interested in hearing my story here it comes:

First of all I don't regret the therapy, in many ways it was a journey I had to do and a transformation I needed to make. 

I've known my idea of myself didn't match my biological body since I was 3yo, it wasn't a problem for me until the beginning of adolescence when society started to expect me to grow out being a tomboy and start behaving like a female. The distress brought me to isolate myself from friends and family, but back then proposing the HRT to children wasn't a thing, and my family was (luckily) skeptical about it anyway. I started considering going on T only in my twenties, after a dramatic failure in conforming to the female gender role that was expected from me that brought me to an emotional breakdown. A therapist suggested me that it was the only way to fix my problem, I believed it and started taking testosterone. 

Nothing changed. Nothing changed because on a social level, I wasn't socialized to be a man, I was still an outcast with women and men. On a personal level, changing my body didn't really matter to me, I only did it for the sake of being seen the way I see myself. 

What I really wanted was to go back to the freedom to be what I wanted to be I had experienced during my childhood when my behavior and way to dress was at least tolerated without asking sacrifices from me. 

Changing my body was a sacrifice I was making for the sake of society, I realized this when doctors started asking me to proceed with the surgery, concerned about the long term effects high levels of testosterone have on the female body (which include cancer), so I dropped the therapy and decided to seek for an answer inside and not in the outside world. 

After going on and off hormones for a couple of times, I found that answer that was: I'm myself regardless of what society thinks and I'm not going to mutilate my body, be a slave of a therapy my whole life, and potentially causing myself health issues, for anyone. I still behave, dress, and see myself as a male, nothing ever changed but my point of view.

But I was an adult, I was capable to take decisions for myself and see the long term consequences of what I was getting into as I was capable to separate myself from society and be confident on who I am without heavily relying on external validation. Children and especially teenagers aren't capable of doing this, during adolescence especially, external validation plays a huge role in affirming your identity, For this reason I think what was officially added into The Sims by the last patch is dangerous. For this reason I think promoting the HRT as the only solution to teenagers is dangerous

And I know Maxis doesn't care because they only care about supporting the "minorities" as long as it brings them money without critical thinking involved.

- Fixed the issue with the Paranormal Ghastly Ritual and other small problems. I meant to also include Werewolves ghosts into the mod but the UI doesn't look quite right so I'll see how to get around it. I mod tested this, not playtested so there might be more updates in the future. I also removed the Paranormal specific file, everything is now included in the same package.

Hello, sorry for the absence, it's too cold to be at the PC these days and I was waiting for January patch before resuming checking mods because I thought it was going to be doomsday (the babies patch) anyway, all mods that have been updated  are fine to use with the last small patch dropped, the others are yet to check just as before.

Crossing Makeovers\Sims - L. Faba

I've been often asked to share the Sims I use in Crossing, that's always difficult for me to do because I merge CC and tracking down what I use is a problem, plus the Sims I use for writing don't actually have all the outfits and the skills/traits are also a mess. 

Since I've been cleaning my CC folder and I need to revisit these Sims anyway, and I also found this fantastic Mods Manager while cleaning up, I decided to finally share some of them starting with Faba, she's probably one of my favourites to dress because I gave her a Post-Punk/Dark Wave look heavily inspired by Siouxsie Sioux 

And I fixed all her outfits for sharing, CC are included.

No fancy poses because I've yet to sort those.

Merry Christmas a bit late.

Sorry for being away. I'm also not feeling very well so I'll be quick, this is just a post to say that I unlocked the new version of Assign NPC Roles for everyone. 

I had not forgotten, I wanted to complete testing it, but it needs long gameplay sessions and I seem to be unable to play this game for a long time, then I had the terrible idea to clean up my CC foder to go back writing and I'm still arse deep into sorting/batch fixing CC. 

It's stable enough to be used in gameplay, but please report every issue you find, and consider it more of a last testing version than a final version.

EL - N.A.Ps Overhaul

Sorry this took so long. 

This mod replaces and tweaks some EL Civic Policies, I plan to tweak more as I try them in game because of a lot I'm not sure what they exactly do (if they do something at all besides giving the impression of being enabled).

The mod is modular so pick and choose what you want, the only file required for everything to work is the main one.

For the replaced policies that have a contribute to pay or get, the letter will arrive 24h after paying the bills. 

The replaced policies are:

We Wear Bags with Pet Friendly:

  • You can get Influence Points by interacting with pets;
  • Families with no pets will have to pay a contribute to the community
  • Families with pets will get a pet related gift in the mailbox every week
  • You can donate old pet stuff you have around to the N.A.P for influence points

Juiced Community with Charitable Community:

  • Wealthy families will have to pay a contribute to the N.A.P
  • Least wealthy families will get the contribute depending on memebers and net worth
  • Get influence points with charity/volunteering
  • You can donate old stuff you have around to the N.A.P for influence points

Aggression with Universal Child Support:

  • You can get Influence Points by interacting with your kids;
  • Families with no children will have to pay a contribute to the community
  • Families with children will get a contribute depending on the number or children
  • You can donate old kids stuff you have around to the N.A.P for influence points
  • You'll get random visits from family members

Sharing is Caring with A Farier Neighbourhood for Older Sims

  • You can get influece points by interacting with elder sims
  • Families with no elders will have to pay a contribute to the community
  • Families with elders will get a contribute
  • Elder sims will get visits from family memebers 


Associated to the new N.A.P.s there are also some easter eggs like the girls scouts selling Scout Cookies.


The tweaked policies are:

Free Love:

Free love will actually help single sims to find a partner, what this means is that single sims can get visits from other single sims that noticed them and are interested in more than a frienship:

Also removed the autonomous flirting and you'll get influence with romantic interaction only with your partner. 

Removing the No Jealousy aspect of it would require editing files I don't want to touch to avoid conflicts. 

Removed NPC autonomy:

This file gets rid of all the pushed NPCs autonomous behaviour associated with the N.A.P. s


Common to all policies is the new N.A.P.P. on the phone, that offers various services to get or spend influence points:

You can play to get a prize (it's easier to win when a policy is enected and prizes are also different and depend on what policy is on, like you can only win an easel when creative arts is enected. The stuff you win is generally Career Locked in vanilla game, so it's another way to get your hands on those things if you're not into the related career)

You can purchase aspiration reward traits 

You can purchase 50 friendship points with a Sim of your choice

You can go to the Neighbourhood Meeting to get influence point (and meet the neighbours)

In owned business:

You can convert Influence Points into Retail, Restaurant or Veterinary points.

Reworking N.A.P.s - Which ones are the worst?

I had already replaced one (We Wear Bags) with Pet Friendly, now I decided to take back this project and finally complete it.

This is what I did so far:

  • Families with no pets will have to pay a contribute to the community
  • Families with pets will get a pet related gift in the mailbox every week

BG - Removed Lunar Cycle

AKA: Give me back the moon in the Magic Realm

The Lunar Cycle patch is what pushed me from just disliking this game but still finding a way to have fun with it with some occasional bullshit to hating it and wanting to get rid of it for good.

The reason? I really wanted the feature until I saw how they realised it. 

This mod just aims to remove this ugly feature, to get a better quality lunar cycle you can use this or this instead. Neither of them fixes the problem I want fixed, if nothing else they make it more noticeable. This is the problem, and it's never going to get fixed by Maxis...

The Magic Realm used to have a special moon texture:

This was the moon in the Magic Realm before the patch. After the patch, every world uses the same moon texture, this low quality shite:

The Magic Realm disables the lunar cycle so it always only uses the full moon texture. Nothing you can set in game can fix this, because while you can set the moon to be fixed on a phase you can't get the game to use the old textures. The problem is noticeable in Forgotten Hollow too, that used to have a special moon as well:

This was the price to pay for the gameplay feature, gameplay that consist in the old formula of a bunch of buffs with the completely unnecessary skill gain bonus and that is only really meaningful for those creepy disgusting things they tried to sell as werewolves. I'm not willing to pay this price since I don't even consider the idea of playing werewolves in this game. And I've been looking for a way to save both the lunar cycle and the special moons for a while but given that this isn't possible I decided to give up on the lunar cycle, especially because I can achieve a better result than what's in game with a brush in clip studio if I want different moon phases in the sky.

This mod replaces the new moon texture with Forgotten Hollow moon because that looks good almost everywhere:

And the full moon texture with the Magic Realm moon so you get back the special moon in the Realm, sadly that one doesn't look good in most other places:

The other moon phases textures are replaced with the other different moons that used to be in game like

Windenburg moon

That used to also be Granite Falls moon and the basegame moon, that used to be also Glimmerbrook moon and is now the default full moon everywhere:

You can potentially decide which moon use as default by fixing the phase on the moon you like, I've set it this way

So the game uses Forgotten Hollow moon everywhere but in the Magic Realm, and the moon will be back to be always full everywhere.

Writing - Unlocked Interactions

There are a lot of cool interactions and animations locked behind the terrible gameplay. I wanted them free for writing so here you go:


Unlocked Greetings

the autonomous only greetings unlocked to be user directed, this requires the xml injector 


Unlocked Police Interactions 

Interrogation, fingerprints, mugshot, search and jail door unlocked from the police career, this also takes the objects out of the debug menu and into normal build and buy. The jail door can potentially be used in gameplay but you can only lock in Sims in the same household because locking NPCs could cause issues.

Walkby Overhaul Rework [ Repost ]

I haven't dropped the rework of Assign Jobs, I just got to the point where I needed to check the filters and I needed this mod here as a base. 

While I was working on that I got annoyed by the fact that the old version of this mod didn't allow much flexibility on not In world Sims. They just weren't showing up much anywhere. 

Not in world Sims are a bit of a wildcard, once you free them, they show up everywhere and it's always the same ones, I didn't like that either so this was born. 

Much like the old version of the mod, the main function is blocking resident Sims into their region. Unlike the old version of the mod, this one leaves not in world Sims free to spawn anywhere they want by default, but it also gives control over who spawns where. Here are the main differences:

Magnolia Promenade isn't a dead world anymore

It was before unless you weren't putting Sims as residents, now Sims from Willow Creek, Newcrest and San Myshuno are allowed to walk in there.

Not in world Sims can walk anywhere

They can take up jobs and be walkbies anywhere by default unless you lock them in regions

You can assign not in world walkbies to specific worlds with the mailbox

Gives full control on who spawns and where. Don't want to see non vampires in Forgotten Hollow?! Assign not in world Sims to other regions and they will not show up in Forgotten Hollow anymore.

Resident Sims are managed by the mod itself, except San Myshuno residents (allowed in Newcrest), Newcrest residents (allowed in San Myshuno and Willow Creek) and Willow Creek residents (allowed in Newcrest), resident Sims will stay in their worlds.

Not in world Sims will follow the same rules once you'll have them assigned to their region. 

Exceptions are Sulani and Mt Komorebi because they have tourist situations, so not in world Sims are allowed to visit those (with restrictions) resident from other worlds aren't.

The mod also makes the bartenders in Forgotten Hollow be preferably vampires for consistency with the other occult worlds. 

OPTIONALS:

Add Strays to other worlds (requires injection tools)

Strays and dog walkers will show up outside Brindelton Bay

Add Police Patrols to other worlds (requires injection tools)

That's a neat walkby situation that only happens in career zones in vanilla, the mod adds it to other worlds

Fixes

Various fixes to issues with the filters, removes elders from clubs, removes toddlers from gyms, makes the gossippers in Henford be residents, makes the Sims attending the organizations parties in University be actually students... I'll add more as I find more inconsistencies. 


The options can be used without the main mod

This mod doesn't touch: the bartender in Moonwood Mill, the special NPCs in Henford, The Magic Realm so if roles aren't being filled in those places look elsewhere for the cause.

07/11/2022

Added a "fix" for something that has bugged me for a long time, when you visit Granite Falls, walkbies wear a camping outfit, which I like... but if you place a park, a bar, or any venue in there, they revert to normal outfit which kind of ruins everything. I've been waiting for a consistency update on this for a long time, and I doubt is ever coming, so I fixed it myself. When you visit a bar, park, or any venue except special ones like Onsen, Gym, Spa or Wedding Venues that require a different attire, in Granite Falls, other Sims will still wear the camping outfit. Restaurants are included even though you can technically choose the dressing style. 


Added a cheat I need for writing but other people might use for other purposes in a optional package, Stop Walkby Situations:

Before I was using modified walby directors but I got sick of moving around mods when I write or test other mods...

This is a cheat which means you need to shift click on the terrain, what it does is stopping walkbies from walking around completely. It's lot based so if you travel to another lot you'll need to run the interaction again, remember to set the walkby situations back on when you want Sims around again. Should work in most places.

VAMPIRES - Reworked Vampires Mods

I was never happy with some of my smaller Vampires mods so I decided to rework them, also to remove unnecessary overrides, I'll put everything in here.

Vampire Power Tweaks

This is meant to replace two of my old mods posted here: block powers by day and daytime drains energy. It's more fleshed out than my old mods, has no overrides and takes the gameplay into consideration more.

1. Vampires are kind of boring to play because their energy doesn't go down unless you use powers, so they end up staying awake for days. With this mod, their energy will go down during the day, normally very fast, to force them to sleep. Having the sunlight resistance perk unlocked will reduce the decay but will not stop it, their energy will still go down twice as fast than human energy, on the positive side, their energy will go up very fast as soon as the daylight is out, to force them awake by night. This also affects vampire children and toddlers, their energy too will go down faster than humans by day and up faster than humans by night. Vampires with the sunlight resistance can temporary block the decay with dark meditation.

Can be disabled on individual Sim with the cheats.

2. Vampires are also a bit overpowered especially on high level, the mod blocks vampire powers completely if outside during the day, they still can use them inside. Vampires with the sunlight resistance can temporary unseal the powers by day.

Can be disabled on individual Sim with the cheats.

3. Vampire children and toddlers don't really feel like vampires at all. I don't like mods that unlock vampire powers on them because then they don't feel like children anymore. So I just gave them a sunlight buff when outside under the sun, the kids too will be uncomfortable (or sad in the case of toddlers)... it won't kill them or anything. they will also avoid being out under the sunlight.

Can be disabled on individual Sim with the cheats.

The cheats package only contains the pieMenuCategory, the interactions are inside the mod. I made it standalone because I plan putting cheats from other mods I'll do under the same category to not have 200 of them for each small mod.

I went reading a bit about it and I won't even try that for now, from my understanding you need to apply to the project as an official member, go on discord or something, that's a big commitment for how much I care for the game. Just reading about how you get in is a waste of time for me. 

Also it looks like something aimed to fans of the series... people who actully, you know, like it and have been playing it for a long time, which I'm not... the closest thing I get to is a casual player, I was just messing with it occasionally to have a laugh and building for other people until I started to use it for writing, I'm no long time fan like the others... so we'll see about it if they make the thing a bit more free and less committed when it will be running, but for now I'm not willing to get involved.

BG - IR Cheating [ Repost ]

Updated version of my rework of the jealousy system. 

This had been removed from the public because it was attracting attentions from the Sims Community (it was hidden in the Drive folder to be honest). 

I barely ever use this one but I decided to update and re-post it since I hopefully finally managed to fuck the Sims Community off for good.

If you don't know what this was, the purpose of the mod was giving more depth to the jealousy reaction, as a first thing the mod is aware of the other person involved in the cheating not only of the cheater, and of the relationship between them and the hurt sim reacting:

Second, the mod gives the cheater a buff too:

The mod now adds sentiments to the cheater and to the other sim depending on the relationships between the sims involved:

The mod also gives the cheater the possibility to explain themselves or apologize

Beware that I also track how serious the cheating was, so if a romance actually exists between the cheater and the other Sim, explaining the cheating will only make things worse.

The mod has been updated, cleaned up, the string tables fixed, if you have the old version delete it before updating. Everything is included in the main file now.

Included in the mod there was also an addon for WW, I will add it back here but I haven't used Wicked Whims in months, I don't know if it still works... it only gives a gameplay way to add some WW traits and nothing more.

Vampires - More Plasma Packs

I'm against Plasma Packs but for the purpose of my testing other mods, I didn't want to bother hunting so I added two Plasma Packs that fill thirst way more than the standard one. They also cost way more, being a vampire is expensive.

BG - Autonomous Socials [ Repost ]

Reposting this because it became bigger than originally was, so hear me out:

The mod now blocks random flirting and sims in a relationship from accepting random flirts from other sims (unless they're non committal) but only if you install all the options. 

It should also stop the "bug" with all sims being mean to each other and ruining relationships people have been talking about... ok it's not a bug, Maxis added some new autonomous only interactions, among them socials_Mean_AutonomousOnly_STC and socials_Romance_AutonomousOnly_STC, socials_Romance_AutonomousOnly_Teen_STC so fucking pushed that not even SCAM or an affordance filter can stop them. I tried adding a test in the global test of the interaction to stop it from running when sims have +10 friendship or above. 

Now to the mod, to have a basic functionality out of it you can just install:

Zero_BG_AutonomousSocials.package

One of the two options for the Autonomous Flirt, one of the two options of the Flirt. Sims will stop being random arseholes with mean interactions and will stop flirting around when they are in a relationship (Soulmates, Promised, Significant Other, Engaged, Married) but they will still accept random flirting from strangers. To also stop them from accepting it, install:

Zero_BG_AutonomousSocials_SimsAreFaithful

This conflicts with Better Romance. You can ignore it if you alredy use that one since they attempt to do the same thing, mine is simpler but more aggressive, Better Romance is far more nuanced and in deep.

- This is the pushed interaction I was talking about above (the romantic one, the other is addressed in the main file). I suggest starting with the blocked one, the known issue is the interaction still attempts to run, and the action for the relationship change still runs, but it will not trigger jealousy or anything. In alternative, the other file attempts nuking it altogether. Only pick one.

- Basegame flirt is another interaction that defies every soft attempt to stop it. So I had to edit the interaction directly. Maxis added a new animation for the flirt, which is a lot better than the creepy shit we had, but it's exclusive to teenagers. Since the basegame Cute Wave animation creeps me out, I replaced it with the new one. You can pick the vanilla option to keep the old animation. 

The mod is buff based mostly, so it requires the XML INJECTOR to fully work.

BG - Eat At Tables

It's more than that, really... the problem here isn't the fact that they don't use the table, it's the fact that they go and do things the closer they can to Sims they have a friendly relationship with even if it means going 3 floors up from where they grabbed a drink, getting naked, and drink it in the bathtub. 

Yes, it is a feature and they even bragged about it once. Sims purposely decide to go and have dinner on the sofa because the cat they have a friendly relationship with is sleeping on it. 

This would be nice if it were based on traits, but it's not... so I tuned it down and so far, my sims have been using the table even if their friends are watching TV on the sofa. I wasn't going to share this one, but since someone asked for it, here you go.

VARIOUS - Lost & Found

Only one for now but there is potential for more.


Family Sized Meals - I wanted to make this interaction to quickly cook 4 servings meals, and I was braced for a lot of work ahead, turns out... the interaction was in game already, with pie menus, string tables and all... It was just unused. So I took it, added the things that were missing for Cottage Living, and injected it into the fridges.

This has already been done more than once before, but every mod I found was turning this quick pie menu:

Which is a time wasting slow thing especially if you have an old PC, it takes time just for it to show up, and if I want to waste time on it, I already have the basegame "cook" interaction. So no thanks I did it myself.

HSY Tweaks & Fixes

Polite NPCs Relationship Autonomy - So Sims can ask yours to be boyfriend, bestfriend, propose and so on in game now, but it appears that to do so they just storm into your house without being invited or knocking at the door like civilised people...

I was asked to do this and it was easy enough to do with only the xmls because a better way of doing it was in game already (Community Closeness visits from Eco Lifestyle) but Maxis decided to cut short and do them much simpler GreetedNPCvisitingPlayer situations, which means the NPCs behave like they're entitled to walk in and do the fuck they want... 

This might require EL, I'm not sure... anyway, they will now arrive, knock or wait at the mailbox to be invited in, ask what they got to ask, THEN hang out at your place.

Tested and confirmed working.

Stop Changing Phone Colour "Autonomy" without breaking the interaction when user directed - (requested). That's not really autonomy, they don't change the colour, the interaction is just pushed on the sims on instance into a lot by the buffs associated with the phone colour traits... they once again didn't think how to make the interaction work very well. This uses the same weapon against it, it adds a 15 minutes long buff on instance in a lot and blacklists it in the interaction. First 15 sims minute into a lot the interaction will not work if user directed either, after that you're good to go. Requires the xml injector.

General Mods Updates as I check them in game

I'm going through a playtesting of all mods since I haven't sat down and actually played the game in a long time. All the updates will be posted here.

17 - 10

Rabbithole Veterinary checked, confirmed working. Required a small update.

Customizable Standing Idle Isadomon pointed out the sitting animation is also different between males and females, changing the standing now will also change the sitting, probably not in all the situations because there are a load of sitting interactions, but it shoud work in most.

MBTI Personalities some fixes and balancement for the gameplay, added more buffs, added in-game informations about each MBTI profile regarding the functions they use and the compatibility with other types, made some fixes to the String Tables.

Autonomy Toggle this mod was old, still working but needed a refresh. Fixed the STBL, recategorised the interactions, added a couple to disable the phone idles added by the latest paches both while walking and while watching TV (disabled by default, can be enebled on individual sims). The Mod now has a pie menu icon and always shows in the frontpage. 

Block Access to The Magic Realm still not tested but there was a mistake and the hidden powers from the secret were appearing on sims they weren't supposed to appear on.

Autonomy Toggle added:

Use Logical Meal Times: sims on full autonomy will not be allowed to eat outside meal times, they're allowed to autonomously eat only from roughly 6 am to 9 am, from 12 pm to 3 pm and from 7 pm to 10 pm

Use Logical Sleep Times: sims on full autonomy will not be allowed to sleep outside sleep time, this varies depending on age, children and elders are allowed to autonomously go to bed roughly starting from 9 pm, teens from 10 pm, everyone else not before 11

Allow Autonomous Repair: unlike the forced autonomy to repair, this one can be kept active and allows Sims to autonomously repair stuff, because in game they don't as far as I know. The autonomy isn't pushed in any way, because what happens when you force it is that they get obsessed with repairing broken elettronics under the rain, and I already had a very bad experience with an autonomous repairing mod at the geek con once. So they might or might not repair the broken stuff. They're also allowed to upgrade things autonomously when this is active.

MBTI Personalities more balancing for gameplay and various fixes, fixed the relationship bits, they shouldn't be duplicated anymore. BloodFireMage reworked the compatibilities to be based on functions and not on the letters type, so they're different now and the old ones will be removed on loading the game. I'll rewrite the description on the main post as soon as I'll be satisfied with the mod, for now compatibility can be checked in game.

I'm currently testing Longer Terms and it will take a bit.

Quick Fix - Discuss Fears Interaction

Fixes the wrong test in the interaction "Discuss Fears" for the fear of Unfulfilled Dreams that makes it impossible to fullfill the wish to discuss fears they get to solve it, ironically.
