All-Hands Meeting - Comms, Rewards, and Stuff
Alright guys, I've been thinking about making some changes to my crowd funding situation and I want to let you all in on it and give a chance to discuss before I just slam down a bunch of changes on y'all. It's been almost 6 months since the last time I changed up my commissions, so I think it's a good time to look at the situation and make some adjustments.
First off, I WILL be phasing out the $20 Client tier. (This is only for patreon so subscribers can skip this whole part) Starting next month, if anyone drops out of the client tier, I'm going to close that spot. If you stay in that tier, you won't lose anything, but anyone who drops out won't be getting back in at that level. I might open up more $10 spots, but that's a big maybe.
My reasoning is this: Client tier rewards are effectively commissions. They make up a big portion of my crowdfunding, but require a significant time commitment to fulfill. They don't afford me any extra time to work on comics and stuff, but they still count towards goals, so it kind of defeats the purpose of crowdfunding in the first place.
TL;DR - If you leave the Client tier, don't expect to get it back.
Secondly, I plan to change how I take commissions. Instead of just using a big, ever-increasing queue, I'm going to open and close commissions in waves. Patrons/Subscribers will get first dibs on commission slots, and if there's any left over, I'll open them to the public. I think I'll limit people to 2 commissions per batch at first and see how things go from there.
The reason for this: I'm getting a lot of commissions of things that I don't really care about, and it's affecting my output. Commissions that I would rather work on are getting more few and far-between, and most of those come from patrons. Therefore, patrons first. Also, having commission requests come in at random times can be a bummer on my efficiency, since I'm a big introvert and take forever to write an email.
TL;DR - Patrons and Subscribers come first on commissions from now on.
Lastly, I'm going to take a short vacation from commissions. Once my current queue runs out, I'm closing up for a bit. Patreon and Subscribestar stuff will continue as normal, but regular comms will be closed for about a month.
I've been feeling some burnout recently, plus I think I'm going through a shift in skill and style and I need some time to experiment. During this time, I'm going to try some new things, so expect to see more streams and adoptables, maybe some short-form comics, and some more detailed personal pieces.
TL;DR - Me burned out. Need break.
Anyway, thanks for reading all my bullshit, and feel free to discuss and ask questions :)
