Petscii Robots Mega-Update, Arcade, Genesis, MS-DOS, etc.
Added 2022-05-15 19:29:54 +0000 UTCIn order to reduce the number of Petscii Robots related videos that some people were irritated with last year, I crammed a ton of stuff in this one video. I'll release this tomorrow with proper subtitles and a better thumbnail. Also at the end of the video I promise a "how-to" video as part of the playlist, but that isn't done yet. I also hope to have that done tomorrow.
At the moment I'm about to head over to the GeekPub to record our next two podcasts. I think you're going to like these!

2022-06-17 01:25:27 +0000 UTCJust purchased the Mega Drive/Genesis version and it is great. In the last video, the MD version was still under early development and cannot imagine how great the game it is. The PSP version is great too, but the MD version surprised me.
2022-05-17 16:36:30 +0000 UTCOn why people don't want to go into the building right away, that's an RPG style exploration thing. The building is the obvious place to go, so you need to explore all the places you're not supposed to go for the mainline path first to make sure you're not missing something out there. This impulse really tripped me up in Dear Esther, because the way that was obvious was basically the way that let you see everything, and going a non-obvious direction meant you were skipping content, because the level looped back on itself and those side paths that were not drawing your eye from that angle would draw your eye from further down the path when it looped back at a different angle.

2022-05-17 00:07:13 +0000 UTCYeah, agreeing with pretty much everyone else here that I enjoy these videos as well. It provides an interesting look at the capabilities and limitations of various platforms, and I find it quite interesting listening to how you solve or workaround those various challenges when porting the game. Would love to have seen the more detailed version that you alluded to at the end of the video. Stupid youtube haters...

2022-05-16 02:28:24 +0000 UTCLove how many different systems this game is being ported to...and now an arcade cabinet! Very cool. (Side note about the barcade: $10 isn't too bad of a fee. I went into one with $10 of quarters, so that came out about right for me.)

2022-05-16 01:59:09 +0000 UTCWhen they take the arcade box out eventually, if you want to restore the functionality of the amiga 500, there's actually replacement keyboard circuit boards to replace the membrane for the keyboard on Pcbway.

2022-05-16 01:57:21 +0000 UTCDon't listen to the haters! I am impressed. That said, I am truly bummed about the NES port challenges (my fave system), but i will likely end up purchasing the SNES one, which looks great! That Genesis one looks amazing! Now i wish i had a Genesis haha!

2022-05-16 01:53:08 +0000 UTCI really enjoyed this update and especially seeing how many platforms Petscii robots has proliferated into. Nicely done!
2022-05-16 01:52:20 +0000 UTCI really don't know why people complain about you making video about your own project and its your own channel! Just keep making them!
