“Kevin, that’s enough. You will go with them,” Henrietta said angrily, glaring at Kevin.
“What? But I want to stay with you, sister!” Kevin complained.
“But this is the perfect time for you to grow stronger, Kevin,” Henrietta said, her tone turning serious. “Even more so if you can hunt powerful monsters like dragons! If you can absorb their Cores, even just one, you’ll gain a lot of power right away, even if you don’t get a new Skill.”
“I… guess so… I mean, I did grow stronger lately in that dun- I mean, yeah,” Kevin said, nearly mentioning the Murim Dungeon but managing to keep it a secret for now.
Indeed, in the Murim Dungeon we visited before I went to the Trial, everyone gained new strength, such as Martial Arts, and empowered their Physiques while acquiring plenty of this new resource, Ki.
Nonetheless, that was just their foundation. They should be able to grow even stronger and go further, but they’ll need to train extensively and cultivate properly, something we’ll address later.
“Okay, so it’s decided,” Henrietta nodded. “You’re going with Jack and his sister on the road trip. Baihe and Annabelle will also go with you, right? So it’ll be fun with your friends.”
“I guess so…” Kevin sighed. “Though why do I only have female friends…? How did it come to this?”
“You used to have some male friends too, right?” his sister wondered.
“I haven’t talked with them in a while… and I guess some guild members too, but they don’t see me as friends, more like just someone to take care of…” Kevin said.
“Don’t worry, we’ll meet plenty of new people in the near future, I’m sure,” I said with a nod.
There will definitely be more boys for him to befriend later. I plan to recruit more people with sad destinies and change their futures for the better.
The day ended without much further ado, allowing us to relax and take a nice break from everything. We stayed the night at Henrietta’s home, where they had a large guest room. I slept there with Baihe and Annabelle, having a sleepover of sorts as we watched movies and ate junk food until we fell asleep with the TV on.
The next morning arrived slowly. The sun was quite strong, and its brightness was slightly annoying. I groaned as I woke up, washing my face in the bathroom to find Henrietta already preparing breakfast early.
“Ah, good morning, Anna!” she said with a smile. “I’m preparing breakfast for everyone. Do you like waffles?”
“I love them,” I nodded.
“Alright then~” she said. “And… Huh?”
As I watched her cook, her eyes suddenly widened, and light poured from them.
FLUOSH!
An explosion of Celestial Light surged from her body. She sprouted a pair of angelic wings, floating in midair.
Wait, what?!
“H-Henrietta?”
She looked at me silently, her face shifting to one of seriousness. My brother came running in, followed by Kevin, Baihe, and Annabelle. The powerful divine presence was too intense for them to keep sleeping.
“What’s going on?!” Jack asked.
“I-I don’t know, she just transformed! Is this Constellation Descent? Gabriel?” I asked. “Is that you?”
“It’s definitely him, I recognize his bright aura…” Kevin said. “But what’s going on?”
“Calm down…”
Gabriel’s voice resonated from Henrietta’s mouth.
“I have decided that this is the most direct way to communicate what will happen in the coming weeks.”
We remained silent, listening intently.
“The King of All Evil and the Ruler of all 999 Hells has awakened new power unlike anything ever seen before. The Realms of Hell are trembling as gigantic armies, never seen before, are being assembled by the Demonic Thrones. My siblings are alarmed. A Holy War may be on the horizon.”
“Wait, what?!”
I couldn’t believe it!
We just beat that bastard Lucifer soundly. How could he have awakened new power?!
“This caught us by surprise. There has been relative balance between our factions for eons, but a few days ago, that balance shattered when he ascended into a Void Ruler Candidate. His ascension to a True Ruler would be catastrophic not only for the Celestial Nebula of Eden but for the entire Universe.”
You have to be kidding me.
Void Ruler Candidate?!
This never happened in the original story.
How.
Just how?!
…
“He has declared to the entire Universe and the Nebulas that he will begin his attack on Earth in a month. Armies of Hell will pour through Demonic Gates. We will do everything we can with our allied Nebulas to stop him from breaking the laws of Causality, but I had to warn you. All of you must prepare for what’s coming, train as much as you can, and grow as strong as possible. In the end, only you Earthlings can truly save your planet. My siblings have begun selecting their Sponsored Avatars in a hurry as well. They will come to you in due time.”
FLAAASH!
As his presence began to dissipate, Gabriel looked at me with worried eyes.
“The Nebula of Eden will support you with all we have. We’ve decided to protect Earth after you showed your incredible potential by slaying the Demonic Throne of Gluttony, Uroboros, something not even we have accomplished.”
FLUOSH!
His presence fully vanished, leaving Henrietta on the floor, gasping for air, exhausted and confused.
“Henrietta!”
Jack rushed to hug her. Henrietta seemed alright, just a bit dizzy. I waved my hand, and my Aura healed her instantly.
“I-I’m fine… I just was a bit dizzy,” she said. “Gabriel… said a lot. I guess little messages wouldn’t have been enough with all the information he had to tell us.”
“Yeah… a Demonic Invasion…” Jack muttered. “Hah, well, is it any different from now anyway? We’ve been going through a lot of things already.”
“I… guess so,” Henrietta nodded. “But I wouldn’t underestimate it. If even the Archangels were afraid, then it probably means it’s something very serious.”
“What’s a Void Ruler?” Baihe asked, confused.
