DECEMBER Q&A!

Happy Holidays everyone!! Here's our Q&A for this month! The spinning wheel results are at the beginning of the video :) Enjoy!

DECEMBER Q&A!

Comments

My favorite F-bomb from Addie is during the first 2-3 minutes of The Batman. When the Riddler was in the background.

To be fair, Michael Rosenbaum looks very young as Lex in Smallville, appearing to be in his early 20s, and he's amazing. Widely regarded as the best live-action Lex Luthor, followed by Clancy Brown in animation. Plus, I’ve heard they’re incorporating some aspects from Superman: Birthright, which drew inspiration from Smallville, such as the idea of Lex and Clark knowing each other during their youth in Smallville. Giving us a younger take on Lex, like we see in Superman (2025). You’ll also notice that his company is called LuthorCorp, a nice nod to Smallville as well. Suggests he’s in the early stages of his career, likely before rebranding the company as LexCorp later on once he gains full control. But I'm loving him so far as a younger take on Lex Luthor.

Anyone looking forward to seeing Sonic 3?

Thank you

No apology necessary, @inspectordh! You've worked to clarify your comments as necessary and have consistently shown respect to everyone. I wish all netizens were more like you! 👍👍

Phil Stubblefield

I apologize Phil if I was out of line in what i said in a previous comment.

inspectordh

Sigh. 😔 This thread began with a neutral tone, and most commenters have tried to keep it that way. Please, let's not start labeling one another! I *am* that person that was described above: over 50, conservative, and trying to align my actions to my faith (and sometimes failing spectacularly...). I certainly don't agree with every opinion stated here, but I also think that forums like this are usually not a good setting for productive discussions on politics/religion/morality/ethics/etc. Can we please try to focus on the creators we've come here to support and on the content that they create? Thanks.

Phil Stubblefield

To me, Wicked: Part I (2024) is very overrated.

Alex Tan

I just don't think I can take the baby-faced Nicholas Hoult seriously as Lex Luthor (I frankly couldn't in his "Fury Road" role, either). 🤔

Byrd N. Hand

Yes, Jake, I'm well aware of that. It's just ridiculous to me how language police-y YT has gotten over the last several years. It seems overly sensitive/old-fashioned people always get their way. 🙄

Byrd N. Hand

Didn't mean to say that she never swears, just that she can do a reaction and make it without the need to swear just for doing it. It is one of the reasons I really enjoy watching her reactions. I apologize if I seemed preachy, was not my intention.

inspectordh

It's overrated AF anyway.

Andre Agog

So how bout that Superman trailer

Andre Agog

Let's not kid ourselves, and Byrd also needs to note, Natalie Gold and Mary Cherry and i know a few others who use to swear a lot and the only reasons they don't and even addie don't, is because youtube policies. Its that simple. I'm sure even addie swears IRL like any other average American lol.

JakeH

I understand what you are saying. I don't mean anything against the ones that do, it's just in the case of Addie I just like the way she reacts without the profanity. She is a classy young lady and it makes it really enjoyable watching her reactions. Just how I feel.

inspectordh

Byrd, I agree with you here.

Alex Tan

The more she resists, the more people are going to keep asking, mate (that's how it usually works)... especially once she burns through the less scary stuff in October at the rate at which she's going and is forced to watch more genuine horror stuff. 🤨

Byrd N. Hand

It's 2024, unless they're really conservative and/or religious, profanity doesn't seem to be that big of a deal to that many people under 50 these days. And, honestly, I kinda like when when chicks swear 🤐 -- a fair amount, not excessively. Alas, Natalie Gold and Mary Cherry, the 2 most foul-mouthed reaction ladies a couple years ago, now always censor themselves (and also generally just curse a lot less). 😕 Kudos to Sam Schmitt (from TR Schmitt) for continuing to periodically let them fly, though.

Byrd N. Hand

There are some that still want to see her watch that movie, regardless. I'm one of them.

Alex Tan

It's a victory any time one of those weird, obscure or overly niche titles that some people insist on submitting doesn't win, as far as I'm concerned. 🤐 It hasn't genuinely happened on one of these spins yet ("Poor Things" coming the closest), but I'm sure it will happen eventually...

Byrd N. Hand

Did you see this?

inspectordh

inspectordh

I understand

inspectordh

Maybe it's an Irish thing, but profanity is so common here that it’s just part of daily language, except in more formal events, of course, or in front of your mother, unless you want the belt! Even using profanity to show how much you care about someone is common as well. So it was a bit of a culture shock for me to see people using stand-in words for swearing. Though, to be fair, it’s awful when someone swears every second word, like my brother does. You just want to go, "Mate, can’t you talk without swearing every few seconds?" lol

LittleGalaxyBoy

I can understand when sometimes you hear someone say oh s..t. That's not the end of the world. But it makes it nicer and more enjoyable when they don't use profanity. It's like they say you don't have to be dirty to be funny. It worked for the radio comedians from the past.

inspectordh

I couldn't agree more. I've chosen not to support several reactors because of their, uh, word choices. What I found most charming about Addie's lapse of self-control (in response to a jump scare) was her embarrassed laughter and associated disclaimer: "I usually censor myself better in those moments, but, no, that got me!"

Phil Stubblefield

Don't mean anything against you for what I said. Just my feelings

inspectordh

I like it that Addie doesn't use profanity. She is a sweet young lady and in my opinion that makes her all the more enjoyable to watch.

inspectordh

One of my favorite Addie moments is her F-bomb during the full reaction of a certain Firefly episode. I normally prefer reactors to avoid extensive profanity, but this was delightful precisely because it was so unexpected! 🤣

Phil Stubblefield

Counterpoint: Please, Addie, *NEVER* watch the Exorcist (1973). It'll be a lovely day when people stop asking... 😉

Phil Stubblefield

(The Canada story) I apologize for the question, Addie, with being new, my brain just vapor locked and I could not think of a question to ask… also, my apologies for the typo in the question So two years ago, my boyfriend and I went to Canada for my birthday. He actually has a passport though, but I only have an enhanced driver’s license, which means that I can only cross the border by land or sea; I can’t fly to Canada. So our plan was that we would start in Buffalo, NY then rent a car and drive across the border into Canada, turn the rental car in at the Toronto airport, and then hang out a couple of days in Toronto, take the train through Ottawa to Montreal and hang out a couple of days there, and then take the train to Quebec City and hang out there a couple of days. Then because he had to go back to work, he would fly home and I would rent a car in Quebec City, drive back to Buffalo, and then fly home from there. That was the plan, at least… However when we got on the light rail to go get a selfie in front of the Canadian parliament building, I fell and hit my bad knee really hard. Over the next couple of days, my knee gradually became more purple and more swollen, and after my boyfriend left the Quebec City airport, I realized that I would need to go to the ER. Fortunately there was no major new damage to my bad knee, but the emergency room took forever. So then I went to rent a car, only to be told that there were no cars to rent because the Pope was arriving in Quebec City that evening. So I can barely walk, there’s all these huge crowds all of the sudden, and so fortunately I was able to catch the final train of the day to Montreal. So I get a hotel room in Montreal, go to the airport to rent a car the following day, only to be told “we shipped all of our rental cars to Quebec City for the Papal visit; we won’t have any cars for about three days.” So long story short, because Pope Francis came to Quebec City when I was trying to leave, I ended up stranded by myself in Canada for an extra week by the time all was said and done. My boyfriend and our friends have been laughing about it ever since, because it seems like one of those things that could only happen to me…

I spy with my little eye "Heathers" added to Addie's Letterboxd page. 😲 Please tell me a reaction is coming... 🙏

Fun Q&A! Some random thoughts as it went: - Almost Famous is good, I’d say it’s Kate Hudson’s best movie. 👍 It’s also I think Patrick Fugit’s most popular movie (and the one that was his big first role), but his best reviewed film is actually the less well known My Heart Can’t Beat Unless You Tell It To which is an excellent smaller horror thriller that’s worth a watch. 🙂 - Setting up Tier lists are fun to watch, should do that more often. 👍 I’m mostly onboard with Addie’s rankings of Christmas movies, my main changes among the movies I’ve seen being I put Christmas Story in S tier and Scrooged in C tier. (I could maybe see putting Bad Santa in B tier too.) - My take, if Addie was a supervillain she’s probably be a mongoose since they kill snakes and she’d have a snake-themed hero nemesis. (Which there are very, very few snake-based heroes in the comics! Diamondback is about the only one I can think of and even she started out as a bad guy, so Addie would be breaking new ground here!) - As far as 2024 films go for Addie I highly, highly recommend Flow, we saw it in theater last week and it’s a terrific animated film about animals in a flood. I think I can 100% guarantee Addie would like this one, if only for the cute animals! 😄 - I definitely second watching A League of Their Own at some point, as well as The Terminal. Both are fantastic Tom Hanks movies. 👍 - If you only watch one of either Suicide Squad or The Suicide Squad (i.e. the James Gunn one) I highly recommend watching the Gunn film, it’s by far the better of the two! And I don’t think you need to watch them in order, they’re pretty much stand-alone. - If you’re looking for a great Harrison Ford movie check out Witness (1985), it’s one of his best films that you haven’t seen yet. 🙂

Doug

Here's my Tier list of all the Christmas movies you've reacted to so far: S-Gremlins, Home Alone, Die Hard, A- It's A Wonderful Life, Batman Returns B- Bad Santa, Love Actually, Scrooged, Trading Places C- Home Alone 2, A Christmas Story, Jingle All the Way, The Muppet's Christmas Carol D- National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 Thanks so much for another great monthly Q&A. And it's always a wonderful treat when there's an appearance by Ollie. Looking forward to watching your "Almost Famous" reaction next month. That's a really good movie. Have a great day today, and a great weekend! 😊

Happy Friday, Addie. Thank you so much for answering my questions for this month. Here are my thoughts on several things: 1. Congratulations Shawn Goforth! 👏👏🎉🎉 Your suggestion of Almost Famous (2000) just won the spinning wheel. 2. My favorite cookie is always chocolate chip. 3. My favorite Christmas tradition is when I visit my relatives on Christmas Eve and we do gift exchanges late at night. My girlfriend is coming to this year's gathering. 4. My most anticipated movie of 2025 is Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning (2025). 5. My winters were often snowless, given the fickle nature of Georgia weather. I'm pretty sure Camilla agrees with me here. 6. I would love to try your dad's salsa recipe. 7. Die Hard (1988) is an S Tier Christmas movie for me. So are all the ones that I've seen. 8. Please watch Gladiator II (2024) for the channel. I don't care what anyone says, my girlfriend & I saw it in IMAX and we were both entertained. You Will Be Entertained Too! #GladiatorIIForAddieCounts 9. I'm glad that you and Jeremy enjoyed Wicked: Part I (2024) and I do hope that you both enjoy Wicked: For Good (2025), next year. Unfortunately, my girlfriend & I don't plan on seeing both Wicked movies due to our dislike for most live-action movie musicals, a genre that's VERY divisive amongst the general public (as exemplified by section 3 of this article https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MostDefinitelyNotAMusical), although we can handle most of the Disney fare, The Sound of Music (1965), and Mamma Mia! (2008). 10. I do hope that you and Camilla watch The Hangover Part III (2013). 11. Christopher Nolan is my favorite of the directors mentioned in this video. David Fincher is good too, but I lean heavily towards his earlier work from Se7en (1995) to Panic Room (2002). I also enjoy Quentin Tarantino's movies too, but his opinions regarding the film industry are pretty divisive. 12. PLEASE watch The Exorcist (1973) on Halloween. It'll be a lovely day when you do so. #TheExorcistForAddieCounts 13. I just watched A Few Good Men (1992), last Sunday and I enjoyed it. I'll tell you more about it when you post the full-length reaction to it. *EDIT 1* 14. Please put Twisters (2024) on a disaster movie poll. *EDIT 2* 15. The one movie that had me thinking a lot was Oppenheimer (2023). I've probably said this already but if J. Robert Oppenheimer had concerns about starting a chain reaction with the Manhattan Project, then I started having concerns about a different chain reaction being started. One where Hollywood tries to piggyback on the massive successes of Barbie (2023) & Wicked: Part I (2024) by making more chick flicks and movie musicals, both with feminist underpinnings, which can lead to even more divisive opinions. And because of that prospect, I fear that (in the words of Niels Bohr) "...the world is not prepared."

Alex Tan

Please give Ollie a pet for me.

inspectordh

Almost Famous is great movie, looking forward to it
