MAD MAX: FURY ROAD - Full Length Reaction!

Here's the full length reaction to Mad Max: Fury Road! I've always gotten a lot of recommendations for this one, and I wanted to go ahead and watch it now that the prequel is out! Whew, this movie is NONSTOP ACTION, and I had such a great time watching it! Enjoy!

Lol, and this led to one of the best cold opens for Conan O'Brien at Comic Con. πŸ˜„ https://youtu.be/4M5KE44xluo?si=2ky4sLFE8r_eIF4L

WhhhhooooooOOOOOOOOO is this movie a TRIP. I unironically consider this to be one of the best-constructed films of all time because it says so much through the action, editing, soundtrack, and cinematography. They tell so much of the story without having the characters say anything. I'm actually planning to leave in half an hour to see the "Furiosa" movie, I can only hope it's anywhere close to being s good as this was.

I'm surprised by your dislike for this movie (just because I've literally never seen anyone say they didn't like it before) but I guess I get it. It's not for everyone, I suppose. But to answer your question, most reactors are compelled to start with this one because this one is BY FAR the most popular Mad Max movie, and thus the one most watchers want to see reactors react to. And because it wins polls.

BubblyRainbows

I reccomend the past mad max films especially the road warrior

Boiz, has addie watched Arcane?

Chris

You don't need to follow for the story. However, the stunts get bigger and better with each film. Chronologically, you see society fraying just a little bit more. But if you start with FURY ROAD, the previous three might seem underwhelming.

Open question: I never watched the first 3 Mad Max movies. Is it ok to watch Fury Road first? Is it a stand-alone story that doesn't require knowing the story lines or the framework of the first 3? Would watching the first 3 enhance the experience of Fury Road, or is everything I need to know contained in Fury Road? Ok I think I've found all the ways I can ask the same question πŸ˜’

I really like this movie, especially Furiosa. The writing and acting for that character is fantastic. She does what she has to do to protect her charges and to escape life at the citadel, but you never get the sense that she's driven by hate. There is something strangely pure about her. She doesn't overtly show a lot of emotion, but you can sense great empathy in her, for example when she is very quickly able to see in Max a potential ally, even though their initial encounter is confrontational. She's one of the most likeable characters I've ever seen in a movie.

Max

Woah, I didn't recognize him! So cool!

So true. There's a world of difference between watching a CGI car fly through the air and knowing that brilliant maniacs managed to pull these sequences off for real and get them on film.

Congratulations on reaching 90K subscribers, Addie! It was indeed Nicholas Hoult you recognized, The Beast himself. However, you probably didn’t recognize that the guy, Slit, that he was fighting in the beginning, was Josh Helman, AKA William Stryker from X-Men: First Class.

AzraRillian

Well, first off, congrats on 90K subs. πŸŽ‰ I love the first 3 "Mad Max" movies, but, in all honesty, this one did *nothing* for me. I was always skeptical of it from the start, but I never thought I'd be so uninvested in the story that I'd end up turning it off. πŸ€” I consider this more of an in-universe spinoff than a proper sequel to the first 3 -- namely because Max doesn't remotely seem like the same character here that he was in those first 3 (he feels more like just some random guy); he's not the main driving force in the story as in the first 3 (Furiosa is; Max is really just along for the ride); and, frankly, Tom Hardy often looks bored while playing him, giving him none of the gravitas Mel Gibson did. Why George Miller even used his name for this one in the first place is a mystery -- other than for brand name recognition... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I'm not sure why so many reactors feel compelled to start with this one rather than from the beginning with the 1979 original, but I hope you'll check those out eventually.

Dee-yam! I love all the MAD MAX movies. Probably my favorite franchise. And this and FURIOSA are probably my favorites. You don't have to watch these movies in order, however you do see society degrade little by little with each movie. And they get more spectacular, so going back and trying to watch THR ROAD WARRIOR or even MAD MAX might seem a little bit of a let down. I mean, maybe. I grew up with them so I saw them in order. But FURY ROAD is the Mad Max to end all Mad Maxes.

Philip Davetas

Addie, the coolest aspect of this movie is the only CGI is the color grading. Every car, stunt, explosion, prop, the amazing guitar guy, all really done for the film. The art department LOVED making this film. All the cars were actually real running and working drivable vehicles custom made and designed for the film with flames coming out of them, Even the huge gas and water truck the main cast used.

I second Disney's Mighty Joe Young (1998). #DisneysMightyJoeYoungForAddieCounts Speaking of Charlize Theron, I also suggest The Italian Job (2003) with Mark Wahlberg, Edward Norton, Seth Green, Jason Statham, Mos Def and Donald Sutherland. #TheItalianJob2003ForAddieCounts

Happy Wednesday, Addie! 😊 This is my favorite of the "Mad Max" movies. And it's one of my favorite Charlize Theron movies. Two other great Charlize Theron movies that I highly recommend are: "Sweet November"(2001) and "Mighty Joe Young"(1998). Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

Let's give Addie a round of applause for officially reaching 90K subscribers on YouTube. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ Happy Wednesday. What a lovely day it is for you to celebrate the occasion by watching Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). It's DEFINITELY non-stop action because in these kinds of movies, action speaks louder than words. Just as you have done so now, I also watched this movie for the first time when I was in preparation for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024), on the same day I saw that movie in IMAX with my girlfriend. I do hope that you also check out the original Mad Max trilogy with Mel Gibson as Max Rockatansky, as well. #MadMaxTrilogyForAddieCounts BTW, the masked man is Immortan Joe. And only 10K left until you get that silver play button plaque.
