2024-02-29 03:27:17 +0000 UTCNow that we are at this episode I will let you know that Spiers was done a little dirty by this show, how they presented him. He was presented as a bit of a psycho until we get here as it related to the rumors. Well, Spiers did, in fact, execute those prisoners, but not because he was a psycho. He was under orders. At the time of the Normandy invasion the allies did not have the ability to take prisoners. They couldn't spare men to guard them. They didn't have the facilities to keep them. Therefore on D-Day the orders were to execute prisoners rather than risk them causing sabotage to the allies or return to the German lines and continue fighting. The show was trying to put us in the shoes of the men who only heard the rumors. The Spiers family were not happy with how it was done.
