There is so much that I want to say about the events that took place here and your reactions; but I can't without spoiling at what's about to happen in.... 30 episodes (*CRIPES THIS ARC IS SLOW!*) Fwiw: I'm pretty sure a lot of the criticism of this arc is in no small part due to how the anime paces it. For reference, you've been in the Fishman Island for 14 episodes so far. In the remade Fishman Island arc that has better animation and pacing; this takes place during episode 7. Make no mistake, there was criticism in the manga too; mostly on account of how things happen in the later half of the arc, but the fact the anime messed up so much in adapting it absolutely didn't help either.

It's clearly not the best arc in One Piece or even the best post-timeskip arc, but it's not terrible either. I much prefer this arc to those of Thriller Bark or Davy Back Fight...
