Hi Dr. Honda and Berto! I want to start by saying I love everything you do. I’ve learned so much about myself from watching the reality tv reactions. I even found a great therapist by looking for keywords around attachment styles. This next bit is directed at Dr. Honda, but I didn’t want to leave Berto out!I I wanted to make it absolutely clear that I’m a fan no matter what. will not be outraged by any response (including none at all). That said, I became a Patreon member just so I had a better shot at you actually seeing this. When you say ‘narcissistic personality disorder’ the way you rush over the words so that they’re all run together is one of the BIGGEST triggers for my misophonia. It is so hard for me to keep listening to an episode after you say it once because from then on I’m on guard waiting for it to happen again. I get that this is a weird and specific issue that’s totally my problem. I mean no disrespect, and I hope you don’t feel that I’m being a bully. I truly love and appreciate what you do, so I can live with this one little issue. I think I just needed to put it out there and get rid of it in my head 😆

"PIS: You come for the psychology, you stay for the tangents". Truer words have never been spoken. You should put that on a t-shirt.

I have a difficult time with this idea that trauma = reason to be a bad husband. Both of my parents were hideously abused as children. They were both neurodivergent. My mom saw her father stab her mother in the back. She saw him hold guns up to her mother's head when he was drunk. She had to sleep in farm fields and orchards because her dad would drink and become unhinged. She had two relationships that lasted over 20 years each. She lasted in those relationships until both men passed away. She was a loving and supportive mate, both my father and stepfather adored her. My dad came from a family that did not respect his neurodivergence and his hyper empathy. He was born with a heart condition and he grew up thinking each day could be his last. He also had scoliosis which caused him to wet the bed. Until he was diagnosed with the scoliosis as a teenager his mother insisted he was too lazy to get up to go to the bathroom. They would make him sleep outside in winter on the porch as punishment for this. I can't even imagine the lives that my parents lived as kids. They grew up to be good parents. Loving, believed in the self esteem movement in the 70s. My father was a genius, every bit as neurodivergent as Musk, he didn't turn out to be cruel or abusive.

FWIW , elons friends and family all opposed his marriage to Justine and were offering to cancel it the night before the wedding . Besides the incompatibility , They also all did not like Justine as a person . Src - isaacson book .

I think what we miss sometimes when we 'justify' or excuse great minds who are terrible people because of their skills, is that there are great people with great skills who don't get the chances terrible people get. There are people who have great minds who are not willing to overwork their employees, or lie to their investors, or won't jeopardize the wellbeing of their community in order to achieve their goals. If we didn't put up with terrible behaviour any more maybe we would get to know these great folks.
