I took a little time away from my usual game stuff to catch up on some drawing and other things around the house. But in true Red fashion, I put more effort into this drawing than I meant to for what was supposed to be a "sketch." My second pick for February's sketch request contest was Dotty from Animal Crossing, and not only did I work it up to be a more finished drawing, I ended up with 90 different variants, across 5 different outfits!
It kinda makes me wonder how much else I might be able to get done if I changed my approach to these things. Rather than do a ton of variants for 1-2 drawings a month, I could probably do more like 3-5 drawings with just a couple variants. I keep thinking it would be so much less tedious to keep track of all the different layers for each part (Dotty's PSD has around 150 layers). I dunno, sometimes it just seems like overkill and my time would be better spent producing more artwork instead of managing a single piece. On the other hand, I do enjoy being able to get the most of out a single drawing, and rather than having to decide "hmm, which outfit design do I like better?" I can just do both, and my audience gets to see more of my ideas. Maybe I'll put out a poll on that.
Aaaaaanyway, I'll be back to work on the game next week. Also coming up are the results of March's request sketch contest. These Animal Crossing anthros have been pretty fun, so don't be surprised if you see more of them.
Oh yeah, speaking of which, all of Dotty's content will be posted early next week, so I can start circulating the public stuff.
