Scheduling Note: I'm switching Little Witch and Statue Rentals to twice a month. Little Witch will appear the first and third Tuesday of the month. Statue Rentals on the second and fourth Tuesday. The next month with a fifth Tuesday is July. There will be a one-off comic on July 29. I've also removed "RENDER -" from both series. "Little Witch" and "Statue Rentals" should be enough of a heads up. And now, back to the LW09...
What I like about this sequence of comics is it shows Angela in the role of a traditional witch: solving problems with wisdom beyond her years. Still, her methods need some refinement.
Yet another no transformation episode. I do tend to write more about the aftermath of transformations than anything else. I guess Daddy and Angela will have something to talk. Though it mostly happens off screen as you'll find out next time.
Panel 1 – Wide shot of Mr. Wilson and Angela sitting in opposite chairs as Daddy stands behind Angela’s chair. A family portrait photo sits on the table between the chairs.
Narrator: At The Wilson Family Home
Gary: I’m glad you could make it tonight. I wanted to talk to Angela about the issue I’m having with Bethany.
Angela: Bethany’s been really good in school lately, Mr. Wilson.
Panel 2– tight shot of Wilson Family portrait
Angela (thinking): Bethany no longer looks so unhappy...
Panel 3 – Wide Shot
Gary: I know. I used to get far too frequent calls from the main office about her acting out. Now, I get emails from her teachers telling how wonderful she is.
Daddy: Wonderful? No offense, Gary, but Bethany frequently gets Angela and her other friends into trouble.
Gary: I'm not blind, Darren. I know Claudia was the reason Britney used to act out.
Panel 4 – Shot of Gary over Angela’s shoulder
Gary: My wife is a lot of things, but being stuck as a doll, wherever Bethany's hidden her, isn’t a fate she deserves. And yet, in her absence, Bethany has become the wonderful, loving child we’ve always wanted her to be. What am I to do? Nothing I do will benefit both my wife and my daughter.
Angela: If I don’t change Mrs. Wilson back, you won’t have to decide.
Panel 5 – Daddy and Angela looking at each other
Daddy: If? Angela, how long have you been able to change Mommy back? You can. Can't you?
Angela: Mommy likes being a doll. I just want her to be happy. Just like Mr. Wilson wants Bethany to be happy. We'll talk about Mommy later.
Panel 6 – Closeup on Gary
Gary: But, Claudia doesn’t want to be a doll. She’s not happy.
Panel 7 – Closeup on Angela
Angela, oversized word bubble: Mrs. Wilson is never happy.
