Hello!
And for once not an open update. Well, the video above would be nerfed straight away if it was :)
Another solid lump of progress since my last post and, I'm not sure if this is due to my project manager* or whether it's because I've left the rebuild behind and am now polishing and finishing the work for Chapter Five. I suspect a bit of both.
Practically a wrap on Bobe's bit in VR. I'd been playing with the mechanics and interface a bit, well I want it to be fun after all, and I'm pretty happy with it now. Oh, the vid above is one of the holding animations for the interface. I thought it'd be nicer than just a still image while the player picked what they wanted to do.

You choose the item (you can see I've picked the cane now on screen) then hover for the target - and up pops a cross hair...
At this point it just needs sound effects and a bit of VA. Although that latter bit might be a challenge (Me: "So how's your orc sliding down a dildo voice?") But I'll see what I can do.

The view from the other side of the hill, when your bestie has her turn...
I didn't get "Amanda's dinner" to the testers though I'm afraid. Mainly due to liaising with VAs. So preparing briefs for all the scenes, discussing content etc. After all, it's important that they are comfortable with the work, if only so in four months time they don't say "Sorry. I can't do that" for a certain character after having voiced them for so long. But that's all been sorted. The only gap I have VA wise is for Trisha and I'm hoping to get that resolved this week. I'll confess getting the agreement sorted was a massive relief as some of the later scenes are a bit... unusual.
Oh! Speaking of VAs you'll be relieved to know that, I still haven't entirely lost my knack for making an idiot of myself. After all if I was suddenly competent across the board, I fear it could well be a sign of the "end times".
In short, I hadn't realised the pedigree of the VA talent I'd engaged. Sure, I'd heard the voice reels etc, but I hadn't looked over their acting credits, and in fact didn't until after we'd discussed and agreed everything. I now feel a bit like a kid making a film for a school project, asking around for someone to act in it, Emily Blunt rocks up... and I insist on an audition.
I think it's safe to say from that little tale I've been able, seemingly despite myself, to bring you some top talent for your entertainment.**
Other than that there's been a bit of other general polishing. Nothing massively noteworthy however, animation tweaking more than anything.
Still, solid progress is solid progress and I'm pretty happy overall. The priority this week is to get a "Trisha" as that could hold up Four if I'm not careful and I still want that out this month. After that it's going to be either wrapping up Four or getting the dinner scene to the guys. I'll see how the tweaks and finalisation goes. But either is a win.
Alrighties, that's it for now. You take care and speak soon.

* Most likely to say, "You HAVE to get this section done this week!"
Least likely to say, "Sure, add that bit in. Why not? It won't take that long, right?"
** It's not actually Emily Blunt***
*** I wonder how much she'd cost?
