<Alright, Ben, if you’d come to my realm we can try to sort this out.>

Alright.

He forced his mind up as he’d done plenty of times in the past, making his way to his god’s realm where more than a few were already waiting.

It wasn’t the full pantheon of the planet but it was also more than just the small handful he’d had dealing with him any time he wanted to discuss payment, with the group ending with the gods he was close to, Anailia included, all there and waiting while the rest he’d usually have to deal with had shown up along with the one who’d specifically gotten in the way of him putting in his quest with with a handful of others, with Phixth speaking first, looking exceptionally tired.

“Alright, let’s get this over with,” He muttered in a way that seemed a bit less controlled than usual, with that deity already prepared for a long, exhausting conversation. “Now Duna, would you be so kind as to explain just what your intentions were and the reason for your actions?”

“What’s to explain?” She asked as Ben looked at her, seeing someone who appeared to be a mixed breed of one of the elven species with one of the avian that would normally have left Ben to wonder if they were one of the ascended gods if not for the fact that they’d intentionally gotten in his way to make his day and life harder. “It’s my job to guide my believers in the way I view as right, is it not? This boy looks at all of us and only sees what he can get, why should he waste the world’s resources to grow even stronger? I don’t know about the rest of you but the more he does, the more I’m loath to see him standing among us.”

“He’s not yours to judge,” Nare spoke back coldly. “Nor is it your place to decide that for the rest of us.”

“I’m not alone and you all know it,” She told him, turning to the others. “Look at how he acts. You already know what he’s trying to do with this, do you really want him coming even closer to ascending?”

It was clear the answer was largely a no, even if some looked indifferent and that small back and forth had made it clear just why they were getting in his way. While he hadn’t been too open about it, he also hadn’t gone out of the way to try and hide the fact that what he was attempting was for the sake of speeding through the rest of his jobs and it seemed that fact had made its way to the gods of the world, with more than a few who wanted to stop it at all costs.

“It doesn’t matter what you do or don’t want,” Anailia told them, hints of anger in her voice. “This is a massive overstepping of bounds. And why, all to get in the way of a mortal you find difficult? Disgusting.”

“Anailia, we can’t just let the system be exploited so thoroughly-” Another tried, being cut off before he could go on by Nare.

“Why not? Whatever benefits are to be gained from it are no loss to us and the entire point of its creation was to help people grow, the very idea of getting in the way of that is ridiculous. Are you all so afraid of seeing a god of sacrilege, because if so, I’d say it’s your own actions that would be provoking anything worth fearing.”

“God of sacrilege and greed,” Another scoffed. “Look at how much he already tries to take us for each time he feels a little clever, do you think that’s going to stop if he gains genuine power over us? I’ll admit he has some accomplishments but they’re nothing I’d want to see him standing beside us as equals for.”

“Nothing you’d want to- Are you an idiot?” Helori yelled. “Whatever issues you may have with his personality, you’d have to be blind not to see all he’s done for the world. We might not even be here to have this fight if not for him! Not to mention everything he’s been making to help!”

“And are you all really so used to not having to pay mortals for their work that you’re going to stand in his way like a bunch of children because of it,” Nare spat, personally offended as a god who gained faith specifically because of people who used their skills to make and sell their wares. “Who’s actually the greedy one between the two?”

“Easy to say but there’s no denying the boy tricked us all into spending so much of our faith.”

“As payment for saving the world,” Myriad told them. “Or did you all forget about how vital the planet is if you want to keep gaining faith, what with it being the home of every believer you have.”

“All of you, enough,” Phixth sighed, raising a hand to try and get control of things. “Regardless of how anyone feels, Duna was wrong for this but more than a few are unsatisfied with apostle Ben. With the small bit of time we had to discuss this, the majority of the more impartial gods among us have come to a conclusion we hope will be acceptable to all parties.”

“Oh, this should be good,” Helori muttered while Phixth only looked more exhausted.

“Helori, please. We won’t get in the way of Ben sending his quests, all we ask is that since he has a talent for gaining experience, he use it to actually help the world. Including the contenders of the planet in his parties as well as helping the third-tier skill holders complete their jobs, the effects of such a thing could be massive. It could potentially help more awaken to their own godhood in the time we have left and if we’re exceptionally lucky, might even get some of the third-tiers levels in their skills.”

“And all at the low cost of my apostle’s health and time,” Myriad spoke. “This is your solution? One of us steps in the way of another god’s believers and instead of putting it right we put them to work?”

“It’s for the planet-” One tried before being cut off.

“And that makes it okay to exploit a mortal?”

“If it means the rest get to live then yes!”

Tensions were only growing higher while Ben listened, breaking his silence for the first time since he’d gone up.

“I give up.”

Those three words quieted the crowd, with the ones against him elated by it. After feeling like they’d been forced to dance in the palm of his hand since he’d started making himself useful, it seemed they’d finally gotten something out of him while making him back down, leaving the gods on his side with their own complicated feelings.

They didn’t want things to go in such a way, they didn’t want their fellow gods to exploit a mortal because of whatever grievances they held, but whatever the outcome, the suggestion would be good for the world as a whole. If more could reach the third tier because of that and if any already at that tier could manage to gain just a single level to their skills, the planet would immediately be better off for it, with Phixth in particular looking relieved that things had gone so smoothly.

“Thank you, apostle Ben. In that case, we’ll begin contacting the relevant parties, and-”

“You’ve misunderstood,” Ben cut in, looking exactly like he felt, tired and done with it all. “I give up on everything. You all think I’m greedy when all I’ve ever wanted is to be paid for my work? Well I’m done. I’m not helping people level because you all decided to corner me into it and I’m done making things for this planet. I’m done trying to do my best to ensure this doomed garbage world survives the invasion when even after all I’ve managed you all still see me as nothing more than a tool to be exploited than an equal worthy of proper consideration.”

“What are you talking about,” Another god asked. “Like it or not, you live on this world. You don’t just get to quit.”

“Watch me.”

Without another word he pulled his mind from the realm, feeling more than finished with the planet by that point as he started heading home.

Solidarity forever, Ben on Strike!

Wild West Kendo

His friends, which he planned to support, are also combat contenders. Maybe not all, but so what? The gods didn't even offer compensation for what is his own experience. Experience he decided to share.

Luboš Hemala

Again Ben is being a hypocrite here. I get why he’s angry but one of his thought processes is essentially ‘I’m not going to do this because you’ve backed me into it even if it will help save the world by making people stronger.’ Which is exactly what he condemned the people who have the mythical light staff for doing. It was created by their god, it’s theirs and they don’t want to give it up even if it would be much better used by Lux to save the world. So I get why he’s angry. I also hate being forced to do things I don’t want to. And I do understand that of course he wants to be paid for his work which of course he should be. But there are times when he is such a hypocrite and doesn’t take into account what people/ gods can afford to pay when the entire world is on the verge of destruction

Catherine

Fiending to find out what he’s gonna do

Schmidt

You could say this is a loss of some Hephty Ben-efits..

TheLostGolem

The way it looks to me is while he has accepted that he is going to die, he is going to try and make as big of a dent to the demons as possible. A kamikaze

Mootant

I guess that death god will probably affect some of his friends or even Thera

Piotr

@Sunless Of course. Escaping to live another century of course means a different set of chances. But none of that could possibly happen upon quitting. Giving up. Growth mindset gone. You’re making my point that yeah, we’re still on the wishful hope train. Not that I don’t enjoy it. It just… it hits harder when I think of my own negative scripts associated with “quitting”. For Ben it’s paramount to giving up on survival. For me it’s past echoes of suicidal intent. Eh, same difference? I dunno I just feel like Ben keeps mentioning how hopeless it is and it’s… there’s some emotional disconnect being portrayed here. Ben intellectualizes with his 20,000 or so minds. No mention of feeling. Feelings only can be felt in the body, but nope that’s just going to get shunted off into a different mind. I can’t wait to see where turnip goes with the next Ben POV chapter. Where Ben is going to land in this warped version of trauma management with the luxury of not needing to feel any of it.

Meredith

I thought the turnip insert was one of the weird veggies they eat

Corvusamous

It would be really cool for him to use a materializer to make souls but I'm worried it wouldn't work because Ben doesn't fully understand the process of making souls he's just made a bunch of them. I think I heard a throw away line about the souls he wants to make sometimes not happening so he has to do it a little differently each time

Corvusamous

Vibes are the same as that guy who painted Chronos eating his son but actually it was an unnamed piece because it was in the artists home under the wallpaper never to be seen

Corvusamous

Isiah, yeah. This job program was his way to go above 1% chance of actually beating Ouan. If his spite is getting to him though it would make sense for him to just quit

Corvusamous

I got the same, or at least a similar, sentiment. Though it seemed to me like he hadn't fallen to apathy, so much as it is that he rage quit in frustration. He isn't emotionally strung out, he is fuming, calmly.

Carl Mason

I don't he is leaving I think he has accepted death

Isiah Debarros

I fully expect him to ligit quit, maybe try and figure out how to get off planet, though I suspect a depression spiral and go a wandering put into the wilds only to get kidnapped(again) by the death god, end up killing him in some spectacular way that just barely saves the planet(again) wrecks his body and mind(again)and some how get 2&3 3rd tier skills.

CF Sapper

It's kinda sad really. Because we know this is a story and all the setup with the Evil Deathgod, Sacrilege, and Oaun, we know that something will happen that motivates Ben again. Maybe the Gods will bend over backwards to appease him (no way in hell that happens lol) or more likely Thera or her family decide to stay on the planet when he deciedes to leave, so he starts fighting again or something like that. That being sad, him really going and abandoning his quest would've been an interesting twist

Hydrabogen

I think the fault here lies in the fact that this chapter was more from the gods perspective than Ben’s. Did not realize it before reading your comment. I think it was to not have Ben’s play-by-play commentary detract from the details of the discussion, and preserve the suspense on what he intended to do.

Demolug

Love the story but I do have one critique. I'm not feeling the emotional drain and apathy of Ben that is usually present in these chapters. It more felt like just a statement made by Ben without the usual portraying of emotional response by him. I feel like you almost fell into the trap of telling us what happened vs showing us what happened.

Mars One

Hooo boy TFC

Rain

They should asked also he has already done that in the past so making it a requirement for a quest that they shouldn't have the ability to deny is the crazy part

Isiah Debarros

Ya he has been burning himself on both ends to do whatever he can and when he so going to do his last job speed run and help his friends out too he learns that one god thought it was their place to say no and the ones that don't hate him will only say yes if he does what they want which shows that they don't care that that god choosing to interfere and are willing to exploit it

Isiah Debarros

Also giving the demons any type of job is a bad idea

Isiah Debarros

I mean finishing the jobs isn't a goal anymore Ben just doesn't care at this point

Isiah Debarros

Na that would probably be thanks to kill the death god

Isiah Debarros

The real vacation arc begins! Which means he finally has time for his side projects again. Will cyborg wake up now, given how high his connect skill has gotten?

Marquess

Now he will have time to fix roboy. I wonder if he will get access to basement as compensation after gods will realize how they f up. I think that Phinx solution was not bad and maybe Ben would went with it if Dune was punished and apologized to Ben.

Piotr

Or make paintings that raise your mana regeneration when you look at them and hang them all inside his own house to deprive the world of his benefits. Keep making them accidentally and just stack them in the corner.

Carl Mason

Or he could use material manipulation to become the worlds best street-side juggler/close up magician. Ben Heph: The Ultimate Children's Birthday Performer! Prepare to be AMAZED

Wince

Finally getting the Ben Heph artist arc we've all been waiting for! Is he gonna go for experimental modern art? Gonna make a portrait of Thera? I kinda want him to make a painting so good it raises your mana regen just by looking at it.. then get frustrated cause thats exactly what he set out not to do since its now a treasure that helps the world as a whole.

Wince

Say, can't Ben enchant with Soul Source? And he gave away plenty of his mana armbands. He could make some capable of creating souls for the soul mages.

Luboš Hemala

Time to visit Greed and spread the whole atheist movement perhaps, eh?

Luboš Hemala

If you squint reaaaally hard they just might have made sense with contenders being included, but still, they went about it exceptionally stupidly.

Luboš Hemala

Would definitely sit in mythical chair.

Luboš Hemala

Good theory, but I doubt Ben would do something so convoluted. All he has to do is ask Pelenia or even Kili, and there, it's done, he will have plenty of people the next day as we have seen with the potion experiments. After all he should be well know by people from the library and the mages guild. He met the head there personally and I doubt they would stand in his way. And even if that would not work there are still the Demidemons he could use.

Luboš Hemala

Alright, so my personal theory is as follows: Ben will finish the job through the captured demons, as others have already theorized. However, it is true that he cannot simply force them to become adventurers because being offered that job requires guild membership which he obviously cannot grant. BUT! we have been informed that shared XP pools aren't exclusively a thing for adventurers in parties, they are also possible for soldiers in the same unit, likely to ensure that they all progress their jobs and thus growth bonuses at the same pace. So, Ben just needs to be able to 'officially' declare them soldiers in his personal army in a way that the system recognizes. What little we know about career soldiers in this world is basically just, they need to serve under someone with leadership skills and belong to a sovereign country. Ben's Hive Mind very likely qualifies as a leadership skill, and when he built the village foe the Demidemons he officially founded the Holyland of Myriad, making him its mortal sovereign on a technicality. Thus, the system should recognize his legal right to accept the captured demons as Myriad's Holyland's citizens and subsequently enlist them as soldiers under his command. Then each of them can take the soldier job and is automatically in one unit with Ben

max grok

I had some time to think about this, the way I take is as follows. Ben has been doing everything he can to help the defense of the planet, even when he gets paid he just funnels it back into projects to support that end. He considers it borderline hopeless, he got drafted into it, and he has worked relentlessly towards that end anyway to the point of breaking his mind multiple times. Being sabotaged by the gods (who also stand to die) because of petty dislike, grudges, arrogant young master syndrone, ect while pursuing this goal was the last straw. Remember just prior to this he endured multiple attempted murders from Rook (and prior to that that one demi god whose name now eludes me), and basically just got told meh he is tier three deal with it yourself. And the whole context of his time here was very much being ignored or devalued for one reason or another. Not a huge point here just feeling like I have some insight into his mental state.

David Burchfield

and thus ended the book. Turnip did a self insert and said I'm done. lol. look forward to the next chapter

Techy

Time for ben to focus on the real goals in life, like making mythic quality furniture

Markopolo

Yeah, it's just a very strange idea like they're trying to punish him for them agreeing to complete his job when they didn't complete his job. By giving him more work. When they are there to talk about a God, deciding arbitrarily that she can command the whole adventure guild because of the fact that her believer is in charge. The worst part about them trying to give him additional conditions for him to be able to use the quest system, which is something that he should have access to anyway is that he has already done that to a certain extent because he's helped contenders through jobs before and was going to continue helping others through their jobs. so it's even crazier because that condition was basically added on so they could feel better about themselves and one upping him

Isiah Debarros

HA! I don't know what they expected

Isaac Boyles

Also about like going up there and killing gods, it's just not a good idea and also counterproductive like as shit as the gods are all of them have followers and clergy even if their numbers aren't that high they have people follow them and listen to them panic and that's really something the world doesn't need causing a Civil War is just a bad idea considering they haven't dealt with the enemy that they are going to lose to yet it. I'm pretty sure we were specifically told one of the reasons why a lot of things that are happening that are like kind of shit on the world continue to happen is because pressing the issue would cause conflict and they don't need that like staff of light mythic item for example

Isiah Debarros

I mean nothing he's done up until this point is really comparable to killing a God it's also at the highest wall that is possible for the skill. Like even trapping at demigod in hell isn't technically killing it so doesn't really fulfill anything. Like no matter what he does to try and upgrade it it would be like gathering up sand to make a wall in comparison to killing a God

Isiah Debarros

I mean, that would be nice in like a vindictive sort of way, but like they all have followers and like their own races, it's not happening

Isiah Debarros

I mean, they probably can't spare the power to punish anything by death, but there should be consequences and not just slapping more work to him that he was going to partially do anyway.

Isiah Debarros

Ya I'm betting that the quest around that area is going to find demons and they're going to try and kill the dryads and Ben is going to be needed

Isiah Debarros

Good for ben, now what's falk going to do?

Lyncher98

That kind of goes against what he's doing because at the end of the day, even though they wanted him to help out the tier 3s and things like that he already going to help out a bunch of people who are integral to the protection of the world anyway. He need to full stop No more mana bracelets no more materializer no more weapons no more potions hell if I was him a would let the outsider become a god just to fuck with everyone

Isiah Debarros

that's a good one

Jon Lomax

That's too convoluted also I'm pretty sure he's giving up on everything so that includes progressing him.

Isiah Debarros

I'm hoping that he just takes over the system. the gods have already said he has more and better contact with it. Ben system admin....

Jon Lomax

Another thing I would like to point out is that like they're acting like he was going to only strengthen himself when he did the party thing every time he's done a job he helped anybody who was around who he knew. He happens to know like a lot of contenders. Why do they assume he wouldn't help them out in the first place? Cause he has done it before. And what the fuck gives them the right to impose rules on something that he should be able to do anyway

Isiah Debarros

100%

Corvusamous

Belief in the procedure? Oh wow, look at all these demons that fervently, fanatically believe that Ben runs his own adventurers guild! How did that happen?

Adam Miller

Also if quitting he could just focus on building a way to leave, take Thera (another heavy hitter) and whoever else wants to go with him. It is a real and serious threat/choice. I like that it is his option for pushing back, against that type of petty shit rather than escalating.

David Burchfield

I love this, we have been told many times by God's without Ben around that he is probably one of the most important people on the planet, within the top 5 (I believe?) So him just, quiting, will be huge. Means no more weapons, no more awakings, no more food materializing devices, no more mana bands. Nothing that only ben can make. I see this going 1 of 2 ways, either its doing nothing until the gods concede and give him alot more. Or he becomes so angry with the gods, does something, that he get KOS to 3rd tier. But that's just a theory

MinerManiac

JUST WALK OUT You can leave!!! Work Social thing Divine meeting Demons trying to kill you Saving the world Your workshop Research projects you started but no longer have the will to continue Adventurer guild cops if you're quick IF IT SUCKS.... HIT DA BRICKS!! Real winners quit

Clara

Anailia would. Most would, if Ben offered. When it comes down to it, most of these beings only saved any of their people in the first place because they are their food. The few that do care, like Anailia seems to, only really care about their people in the end. Offer them an out, and they would take it without hesitation.

Collateral_ink

Maybe? I think it was a stamp or something on his card at the beginning/when going up ranks, so it had to have been made by someone at some point. I’d assume the belief in the oficialness of the procedure gives the system the necessary stuff to give the adventurer job, so I’d think it would not work, but the system has been shown to be fallible, so who knows.

Demolug

You remember incorrectly

Hydrabogen

Well this is going to be something Ben has quit oh boy

Phoenixdrop

The trapped god-souls are still technically his. Wonder if he would take them with him if he chose to depart the planet.

Luboš Hemala

I don't know about a death penalty, it probably won't work. The skill is being so stubborn about tiering up that it is looking more and more like it will require a heavenly purge to do it. Go up, capture gods, tear down divine realms, force incarnate them, then publically execute them on the steps of their own desecrated temples with ruined/broken idols scattered all around. And while that is a compelling image, it would just be so much work. Edit: it may also simply take a true divine death to accomplish. Even those gods he killed before aren't dead-dead, they had their mortal vessels killed and their souls and divine essence trapped to keep them from returning and being problems again. But a True Death delivered to a Divine/Immortality being might be enough of a one up to tier the skill again.

Carl Mason

With his new materials Ben can create a space ship the size of a pokeball and go wherever he wants.

TBONEMAN

The other spirits (great or not) are rather displeased after the spirit-power-source incident. If Thera goes, and she will, they'll leave as well.

Nematrec

I bet thera gives up with him.

Kevin Neely

Oh until the 3rd wave? No idea

Corvusamous

If I remember right Galwax died in the 4th wave on his planet. If Ben told the gods thot info then they would probably become desperate to have a god of sacrilege.

TBONEMAN

So it took 4 years before the first wave started and the second one has ended (with one year between waves) so a little more than 5 years in world (their year is different and I think shorter) which probably translates to a little less than 5 years in our understanding

Corvusamous

Why. Not you don’t think Ben isn’t that petty. To do that. Because heck the gods did that to him after the fact because he is a mortal and their are gods. Well I guess he won’t supply potions or materials and items. As well as training to get tier 2 awakened skills. He would get a better deal in the long run because they would have to crawl back and ask for help.

IdolTrust

Nah, he got payed for them, he won't reneg.

Luboš Hemala

Dang Ben going on strike. Watch the world burn. He might as well activate Order 66 on his items to self destruct and just focus on his god and fellow deities followers. They got the “Fuck around and find out” motto.

IdolTrust

Based

Corvusamous

New atheism- only "worship" those you have a close person relationship to that allows both of you to thrive as a community

Corvusamous

We get one PG 13 f-word and it's against bad bosses

Corvusamous

How many of them would actually leave though?

Corvusamous

Why does every politics need to be finding the middle ground between slavery and freedom

Corvusamous

The problem with cutting Oglit out isn't that he isn't needed it's that he's the only person who's depressed enough that he might just follow Ben

Corvusamous

And also a level of spite Ben had

Corvusamous

Souls for the soul throne

Corvusamous

He could probably finish them without adventurers. We think of his life time as limited but Thera has rather consistently been lengthening his lifespan and he has many awakened skills and he is going to awaken at least one teir 3 skill. The problem is that the only person who would take Ben up on his offer (short of agreeing to help only him leave) is likely Oglit which is it's own brand of depressing

Corvusamous

It took the demons a couple thousand years to find this planet that the gods settled on, if Ben with his current growth gets even a fraction of that time he will have the time to get the skills he was planning to third tier, maybe find some other solutions as well. Would that be enough to stop the demons? Who knows.

Sunless

What constitutes being registered at the adventurer's guild? What if Ben copies whatever enchantments are on the guild and makes his own?

Karnevale

How much time has elapsed since Ben's return, does anybody know? It feels like a lot of things happened, but he could still have like 10-11 months left before the 3rd wave.

Luboš Hemala

I don’t think they could, I hey have to be registered at the adventurer guild for that, and Ben can’t register them himself.

Demolug

I was expecting some blow up but with 5 words he said all he needed to say. I think he's just going to focus on his own projects and spread the word that the gods have screwed up so bad that even an apostle has given up on saving the world.

juno

That's a good plan

Corvusamous

We already know he can make a pod that can hold someone for a long time, now pair that with him convincing Jake to borrow his skills to summon more of the void stone enough to store most people he cares about and the materializers then he can create a more humane pod. Have the great space spirits take the pod and bounce to another planet. He can provide them with some rainbow mana blocks filled with souls as recharging spots to help the spirits as well. I picture him just saying “Fuck this shit, I’m Out”

Talon88

I hope the next chapter is from the gods PoV. Feel like they need a cold wake up call. At this point the useless gods just should become sacrifices for Ben's sacrilege.

Rizeres

I know I still think he is to blame because when one sides tries to do pure good and the other wants to stop it the solution isn't the middle ground

Griffus

Hmm I don't blame phixth hes just conveying the opinion of the neutral gods. He is pretty much a mediator.

Sammot

After reading all the comments so far, I feel like as readers we’re assuming Ben still has motivation to do anything. Escaping to another planet isn’t quitting. Quitting everything means literally going home and doing nothing. I feel like the vast majority of readers here are still in the wishful thinking train and it hasn’t sunk in that Ben… from Ben’s perspective there’s no “I’m in a story” deux ex machina mechanics. It’s really godlessly bleak. I totally agree with his earlier assessment of some infinitesimally minuscule chance of survival he and anyone else has, because even if he escaped to a different planet the demons would just keep invading worlds and eventually catch up. Ben is… like, manic depressed? It’s hopeless, but those words don’t mean much. I hope Ben gets hugs later. But well. Hey, at least Ben is still expressing how he feels.

Meredith

that would require not quitting

Meredith

Wait... I don't think this is Ben leaving the planet. I think this is Ben realizing that he doesn't need the adventurers guild to do this ... He's got a bunch of demons locked up, who's to say that they can't take the adventurer class?

Karnevale

There is no lightspeed limit in that universe according to Greys

Skyra

Interstellar gate first and then intergalaxy gate. Would definitely be worth the levels Ben needs to push enchanting and crafting to T3.

Luboš Hemala

I don't think this is Ben going "guess I'll die" either .... this is him hitting the "f them, get mine" button and just deciding to save his loved ones and himself. Which is SO MUCH worse for the asshole God faction.

michael pigott

They'd have to get past like... half the world's high power combatants to get to him..... and then deal with Ben to actually stop him. And at that point they'd be facing "ethics don't matter right now" Ben/ Thera.... who put lasting horrific scars on the landscape 2 invasions ago.

michael pigott

They rejected the idea before as unviable. It's possible if the ships are to take only limited people and not the whole population, but the issue would be where to get food, air and later space for expansion. Ben can build and provide everything, but he has limited lifespan and he's only one person. Now with materializers for food and materials available, it may be viable long-term. They'd likely take a couple gods too. In my mind the biggest obstacle would be people and gods Ben doesn't invite to leave. No one wants to stay on doomed planet if there's an alternative.

CherMi

Well Ben time to put your jacket on and materialise a space ship!

Sammot

Welp, as they say "you don't realize what you have until you lose it". Hope the gods enjoy the wake-up call.

Rizeres

So without the space spirits to power new gateways/invasion points Ben could theoreticly make Craftworlds/ Worldships, pack up the various people he cares about and just leave.

michael pigott

Leaving the planet is the best solution for Ben. But before that he really should finish all the jobs, without the help of Adventure's Guild, stick it to the gods. And take all that want to leave with him.

Luboš Hemala

Atheism seems unlikely because of how close he is to Myriad and Nare and Helori.

Baskaran

I hope the gods try to deal with the escaped death god and fail miserably

Azareck

Can't wait for Delair to smile at her Big Bro Ben and instantly resurrect his motivation to save the world (children) three times stronger than it used to be. Or for Ben to realize these insignificant dickheads dickheadedness managed to temporarily overshadow the rest of the world for him and fly into a rage worthy of T3 Ill Will.

Justchillin

Kinda hope he goes through and removes his gates he installed reset stuff back to day 0

Tim

No space spirit needed just let him build a spaceship that can do faster than light travel 😂

qwerty

the fact that phixth saw the solution as adding more in bens plate and not even reparations from duna when the god essentially tried to stop one of their best cards against the demons from growing is so disappointing, what duna did should be punishable by death by Ben and that way Ben could get sacrilege to tier 3 and give the world a better chance of survival

Griffus

i kinda wish Ben leaves the planet with the people and gods he knows and just never come bacck

Griffus

That would be funny

Brudog2

Great chapter. The only thing that was missing was I kept imaging Ben saying "watch me bitch" like Jessie does in breaking bad. I get we don't really swear in this novel, but by myriad it felt like the moment to do it

nugitoBambino

love the chapter but omg can it be tomorrow already i want moreeeee

stitch

What an interesting development. I wonder what his strategy will be. Create a spaceship? Talk his mother-in-law into having their section of the planet lift off? Find a new home with Oglit and just portal straight there with friends and family?

Vorquel

So I am guessing he starts spreading atheism with the help of Greed and that song he is owed, he starts making an escape plan from the planet, this would also give him more time to get strong to kill the demon god. But I can't see him actually getting off the planet to many plot hooks still here but I can definitely see king of sacrilage awakening

Sunless

Is it finally time for the spirits to make their mass exodus like they threatened to do after the 1st wave. Thera was the only reason they decided to stay but if she's leaving with Ben who the space spirits owe a favour....

Charlotte Faye

Time for Ben to take the space spirit, some other people he likes and fuck off to another planet, leaving this one to it's doom. No sense in helping those wastes of resources that call themselves gods.

Uroš

Saw that coming. Ben will find his own path to power and they would realise how much he actually done for the world.

SacredSteel

Yikes. That’s… yeah. I’m with Ben on this one, but it’s genuinely painful to see his endless motivation finally break. It’s been a long time coming, honestly. He’s been trying to overcome an impossible challenge that no one else is acknowledging with essentially no support. The logical thing to do is to give up, abandon this planet that hates and ignores him, and make use of Ogilt to set up an evacuation to another planet. Leaving with the things and people he cares about is infinitely easier than trying to become strong enough to beat Ouan with the time he has left. Materialization and infinite mana can provide everything needed for even a small country. He does not need this world. They need him.

Sesharan

Ohboi. This is about to get good. Can't wait to see what he does and Thera's reaction to everything. My bet is he takes a bunch of people and a few gods with him and dips this planet (though, I feel like it is unlikely).

Hooshu

With the Great space spirit Ben can easily make a livable escape pod and go to any empty planet with people he's close to. Looking forward to gods loosing it when they see something like an escape plan. Meanwhile it's finally time for Ben to explore his lucid dreaming skill.

CherMi

Okay... Ben just snapped, time for the aftermath

TheCrazyDuck

Welp you reap what you sow

KENNETH C

Thank God. That's a proper response. I hope he tries to convince Thera to take him and the spirits and yeet on our of there. As Cartman said: "Screw you guys, I'm going home!"

YOOOOO HOLY SHIT BEN IS ABOUT TO TAKE A BREAK!!!! How much do you guys want to bet that Ben having a sleep schedule is all that has stopped Connect from evolving? At this point, I am betting on anything.
