Have you listened to PHOBOS IV? If you have, grab an acoustic guitar (or any guitar really) and check this lesson out. If you haven't, drop what you're doing immediately and go listen to it right now!
I do not speak in this lesson. Something about the acoustic guitar brings out a more gentle nature within me, and I felt that even to utter a single word in the same room as such a delicate instrument would be really rude.

This part uses a very common right hand fingerpicking technique called travis picking. This should be one of first fingerpicking patterns you ever learn. I show the isolated movements involved towards the end of the video.
The entire part repeats twice, but the second time there are subtle variations in the left hand chords. When I recorded this song I liked both ways of playing the part and decided to do it one way one time, and the other way the other time. You can learn both variations, or just one and play it twice. You do you.
