Starlight Brigade (Outro)

This week on the zone of infinite tone we will be studying my contribution to the outro of Starlight Brigade.

One thing I'd like to add is that it more or less happens in two little pockets/collections of C minor notes. The first one in particular has a very lyrical flow to it. Here they are:

#1
---------------------------------------
---------------------------------------
-------------------------7-8-10/12--
------------------8-10----------------
------ 5 6-8/10-----------------------
-6-8----------------------------------

#2
-----------------------
-----------------------
---------------------5-
-------------5-6-8----
--------6-8------------
--6-8------------------

Pay close attention in the video to where I use slides, apply vibrato. As usual, practice this slow and grab the TAB attached to this post. But you already know this, because you're all a bunch of highly intelligent Phobo-punks.

Comments

Whatever sounds good. Sometimes a lot of parts work, sometimes just one solid part fits the arrangement better.

No reason at all! Both parts can be written either way.

I've noticed that these last two tabs for Starlight Brigade were written in 4/4 unlike the tab for the chorus, which was in 12/8. Any particular reason for the difference?

I love seeing less obvious, more hidden parts of songs featured here! Now I know next time I listen, I'll be looking out for it. Your singing's coming along great too! Rerelease of Starlight Brigade with Phobos vocals when? :)

Love these layers that don't particularly stand out but also add so much fullness to the song. Always loved this riff. Do you have a particular rule for how much guitar layering to do, or is it just whatever sounds good? I can imagine the urge to continue thinking of cool parts and layering more and more in is strong.

Ah yes, a nice riff ripe for the stealing—I mean..
