Guide to Teen Titans, Titans, & Young Justice (Early Access for Pledgeonauts and up)

I'm back after a few busy months both online and off with the first of a few new guides to thank you for your continued support...

Teen Titans, Titans, & Young Justice - The Definitive Reading Order and Collecting Guide

Log in to CK to access this guide. Folks that have recently joined the campaign will receive logins in a few minutes! Leave a comment if you do not have access to your CK login and I'm happy to help.

This guide covers every in-continuity Teen Titans series, from their first appearance in The Brave and The Bold (1955) #54 and 60 in 1964 to the two titles currently running in Rebirth.

This guide was nowhere near next on my list, but two things changed that. First, I reached Teen Titans and Titans in my DC Rebirth reading. I felt like I didn't understand who any of the characters were or where they came from. As is my wont, as I read the comics and researched the characters, I sketched in some guide details. Within a few hours I realized I had a solid skeleton for a a complex guide.

Second, earlier this week I polled my friends at The Omnibus Collector'sβ„’ Comic Swap and Community and they overwhelmingly voted that this should be the next guide I tackle!

What's so complex about the Teen Titans? It's their dual, dueling titles and line-ups, dating back to 1984 when one version of The New Teen Titans was retitled to make way for a second version of The New Teen Titans. That not only makes their bibliography a bit of a mess, but it's a real headache to understand what the collected editions contain until you completely internalize the journey of retitling and reprints that both titles have been through.

What's up next for comic guides? I'm trying to get away from over-promising and under-delivering - that's something I'd never do in my professional life, so why would I do it here?! I already have a pair of completed guides prepped to come your way in the next few days.

After that, I'm planning to tackle a mix of Marvel and DC guides. Most of the remaining Marvel Guides are much simpler because they feature less popular characters with fewer appearances (about 3-6hrs of work), which makes a nice respite between DC Guides like this one that stretch back to the Silver Age (about 10-16hrs of work).

I'd like to have 24 guides exclusive to you at any given time - that's one guide per dollar you're chipping in a year for the folks at the $2 level. With the release of this guide we're currently at 17 exclusives(!), and once I get us to 24 I'll begin to release some of the oldest guides to the general public.

I'm also going to experiment with releasing only the newest guide to people who register for CK for a single week after it drops in order to entice them to join the Patreon campaign.

As always, I value your feedback - both on this new guide and in general. Don't hesitate to comment to let me know your thoughts.

Sergio, this should be all worked out with the login I sent you!

Hey Peter! I just pledged recently but don't know how to access my CK Log in so that I could look through your wonderful guides.

That's great news Peter that they are not completely dropped, many thanks. Do you think it's possible the traffic drop is because they sit in the Archive? If they were added as a subset of your Guides section, perhaps they would get more hits? A "Most Wanted - Proposed Collections" maybe. If I can assist in any way, please pm me, I would be happy to support you producing these if it helps you get them out. :)

James, I *love* doing the Ballot write-ups, but from a time perspective they are punishing. They tend to take 3-4hrs to write in the format I've been doing them, which is between a third and half of a new guide or shooting and editing a pair of videos. They draw a ton of initial traffic, because many people look forward to them as much as you do, but they don't have as much long-term benefit as a guide or a video. I'm still trying to find a way to make it efficient to bring them back.

Hi Peter, As a Marvel fan, this is of minimal interest to me, but obviously the DC fanbase is huge and I am not surprised if you have a lot of people requesting DC Guides, as you do them to such good quality! As for feedback, by far the best thing I enjoy on the site (and how I actually found you) is your incredible coverage of the Annual Most Wanted Ballot each year. Can I check, have you abandoned this activity completely now? I know the move to NZ cut you off mid flow last year, but ever since the run up to ballot started this year, I have been checking the site almost daily for articles and, after the results, refreshed / new write ups. Your overview in this post is also absent of any Ballot related material. Please don't say that this is being dropped!!!
