Basil (Act 2 Finale)

Basil's new set of gifts for the finale of act 2! These were made in collaboration with Roma and Brin in terms of core concepts while I handled the mechanical implementation/gameplay.

Basilisk Id

Concept

A gift that encompasses all other gifts of the self. Everything that is and that will ever be. The first page of a book that you will close with innumerable tearstained hands.

Primary - Neon Sparks: Incorporate or Emancipate any number of Basils as a Free Action. Can be performed on others turns. Once per session or per conflict, whichever is longer.

Level 1

I: Your body is capable of intaking and incorporating any number of beings. You may integrate a being into yourself as an Action, either your Action or theirs. They must be willing. You gain unique bonuses whenever you incorporate a Basilisk Id. For each Basilisk Id, a different passive effect is added to your character sheet, listed below as Mutations.

Stranger of Humanity - Incorporation: Gain a +2 to your Swing for each mutation present including this one (increasing to a 9). Any support action targeting a Basil increases effectiveness from 1d6 to 3d6 accuracy.

Priestess of Humanity: Focuses energy and allows you to fire a beam as an Action. This attack is 3 squares wide, and a number of squares long equal to your Roll to Do. This action is invoked during your turn, and then fires at the beginning of your next turn. All those caught within the beam sustain 1d6 extra damage.

Collapse of the Living: Grants the following:

Withstand: Your Block grants you DR equal to how much you blocked until the end of the Act.

Feed the Fire: Ignite - Lockout. Attack the cage directly with a maddening weapon. Induce burn directly through your attacks. Your attacks feed directly from the flame produced. Heal 1d6 HP on a successful attack.

Guttural Canon: Ignite - Exhaust. Your reflection becomes an awful, caustic canon. You can reconfigure your attack to attack all creatures in a straight line up to 10 squares, or in a 3 square by 3 square cube. Your attack gets a bonus for every creature targeted in this way (up to +6).

Devourer of All: Your reflection unhinges into a great mouth, consuming the incoming attack. Heal HP equal to that damage that would have been dealt and negate the attack. Afterwards, this mutation is Emancipated via Cooldown 1d6 + 2 and cannot be reintegrated until the Cooldown has expired.

04 - Four of a Kind: Gain an additional 1d6 on Rolls to Dye, your Speed is doubled.

Priestess of Compulsion - Scent of Love: You may roll your Rolls to Do twice, choosing whichever result you wish.

Emancipate: During your turn you may remove a Basilisk Id from your body as a Free Action once per turn. If they are a Character they return to the Conflict as normal. In the case that you target either Stranger of Humanity, Priestess of Humanity or Collapse of the Living, they are not treated as a Character. Instead, place one of your dice in Cooldown. You decide how long the Cooldown is. Then, spawn the individual associated with the chosen attribute in an adjacent space. Beginning with your next turn, they each take a Turn during your Turn, cannot be targetted by anyone other than yourself, and cannot be unsummoned or dismissed. When their Cooldown elapses, unlock the dice, unsummon them and continue as normal.

Your Emancipated selves cannot perform normal Rolls to Do, and they cannot Support unless otherwise noted. They can, however, perform actions that do not require rolls and can perform any action granted specifically to them, listed below:

Stranger of Humanity - Basil Support: Take the Support action. Effectiveness increases from 1d6 to 2d6 when targeting Basilisk Id.

Priestess of Humanity - Foretell the End: Targets the area with a large vertical beam. Target a specific square. You can no longer make Move actions until this ability resolves. Everyone is immediately made aware of which space you are targeting. At the beginning of your next turn, blast the target and all spaces adjacent to the target with a Roll to Do, dealing +2d6 damage on a successful hit. If your position is changed for any reason, move the targeted square relative to your new position.

Collapse of the Living - Cruel Distance: Whenever you Move adjacent to or begin your turn next to a Creature, you may deal 1d6 damage to them. Once per creature per Act. Additionally, you may Roll to Do and on a success immobilize yourself and the target, removing your ability to Move until the target removes you with a successful Roll to Do during their turn as an Action versus your initial roll.

The Road: As a Move, you may move yourself or any Basil to any space that they’ve moved to so far. This movement is linear, and they will retrace their steps so long as you remember them. This ability works even if your target cannot Move, is held still, is immobilized, stunned or otherwise deprived of their movement. It simply works.

Yomi

Style

Yomi is reading the mind of the opponent.

Level 1

Yomi: Whenever you begin a conflict or the "boss phase changes." If you have spoken to, tried to convince your target or otherwise tried to connect with them, the GM will mark the target with Yomi.

Every Yomi marker indicates an instance where you said something that struck home, you saw the target for who they were or you presented them an idea that challenged them.

Yomi markers stack up to 3.

They can be used for the following:

-The target's Swing changes color, but retains attribute dice value

-The target must target you as part of their next action

-Apply a 1d6 penalty to an attack roll

-The target moves their speed away from you

-Force the target to use the Tag a Prop ignite effect

You can, as well, write down a thesis when this ability triggers. You do not need to share your thesis with the GM, you must simply write it down and keep track of it.

You may deploy your thesis at a critical moment, and when you do, you choose who it targets. The target sustains 1d6 damage OR receives 1d6 healing, your choice. The more poignant or well timed your thesis adds additional d6 to a maximum of 3d6.
