It's interesting. On the one hand, we don't have to create any art for new animations once everything is setup. We can just turn the model instead of redrawing from another perspective. This also means that I don't have to re-rig every time. On the other hand, everything is waaaaaayyyy more complicated. Making a 3d model is waaay more complex than making a 2d drawing with animateable layers. The rigging has so many more steps, things need to look good from any direction, we need to account for crazy bending to get interesting poses, the weighting needs to look good in weird bends, we need to find a good vertex density, we need a super complex face rig I could go on, but yeah. It's waaaayyy more setup work but it also has more results in the form of multiple animations per rig
